It's time to play ... where is the water coming from?

There is water coming into my second bedroom -- it's dripping through cracks in the ceiling plaster. I live in the lower unit of a two-family building. The upper is laid out similar to mine (except they also have a huge finished attic) -- in other words, my second bedroom is under their second bedroom. There are no pipes going through the floor. The bathroom is across the hall.

There are at least five college boys and one college girl living in that apartment.

I talked to the landlord, and he offered the first two suggestions as likely, and the third as a long shot. (He's investigating now.)

So...where is the water coming from?

I did go home at lunch -- the dripping has stopped, no damage to my belongings. I just mopped and washed the pot I put down.

10. I've seen it happen.

The water hugs joists and rafters, etc. And for some reason, probably Murphy's Law, starts dripping right in the center of the Dining Room Table.

Sorry your pot got wet.
