Just back from FReeper board, I brought a gift!
Welcome me back from my first foray to the Free Republic Website.

This posted link scared me home here, but I had to show you what evil lurks inside their iron gates.

1. I couldn't read anymore.
Was this serious?

Dearest Heavenly Father, our hearts are overflowing with joy and gratitude to You, our Sovereign and Loving Lord, for Your mercy on this nation in giving us a leader who names Your Name. We acknowledge our own sinfulness, and come before You confessing our sins that we might have clean hearts as we approach Your Holy throne.

We lift up before You our brother in Christ, George W. Bush, as he...

17. Too bad the idiots keep "confessing" the same sins and keep repeating
them again and again.

If they were real "Christians" they would know that Christ wasn't too keen on repeat offenders, there was something about "go and sin no more" in there somewhere I'm pretty sure.

Ole' Jesus isn't likely to look to kindly on people who pretend to beg forgiveness for a sin they don't try to stop committing . . . you know . . . things like violating that "thou shall not kill" rule and that other one about bearing false witness against your neighbor and all.

But what do I know?

40. What do you know? More than the "Christians" on Freek Reep.
Jesus was also not to keen on those who would pray to false Gods and more than a bit miffed at hypocrites, but the Freek Reep Bible seems to omit the Book of Matthew.

But worshipping them is just down right creepy.

Any doubts that this person would kill for Jesus W. Bush if he asked them to?

Edited on Sat Jan-22-05 03:28 AM by Seabiscuit
So much so that I went into freepersville for the first time, signed up, got a password e-mailed to me, and posted the following reply to that post:

"Hmmm...

Is George God's new Jesus on earth?

Serious people want to know."

I'll probably be banned in 3 minutes. But I don't think I'll go back there to find out

by the Freep moderator. See "post #9 removed by Moderator".

Sheeee-it, they're fast. They did it in less than 60 seconds!

Then I tried to post again and was sent to another "blue" page (strange color for Red-staters) and read the words: "your posting priveleges have been revoked".

See? That's why they control everything - they think and move with the speed and efficiency of controlled robots.

They post a prayer under their leader and his wife. A picture where they're dressed in the most expnsive clothes monmey can buy at the most expensive party to be had in DC.

They really think he's God. Do they not read the Gospel at all???

I think the Freek Reep OP got confused as to whom to pray to, and whom to pray FOR.

I dunno, I find it easy to tell them apart, and one of them I have never seen nor heard from.

48. Ya know
I prayed for Bush in 2000 in all sincerity, I mean that prayer went past the ceiling. It's everything I can do NOT to curse him now, and on that I fail often. But even last week, I prayed for him, because I think the problem isn't so much George Bush, as it is the people he surrounds himself with. In terms of Evil and calculating evil, I think Rove and Cheney fit that bill, and Wolfowtiz and Robertson all the others who have never had any kind of suffering in their life that fosters genuine humility and compassion and reflection.

38. I think that the first post is a beautiful prayer
Despite the reality of the situation, most of the things that the first prayer asks for are beautiful things that I could ask for as well. I too could pray for wisdom and discernment for dubya, and for his marriage, and his daughters.

Not sure about the whole "gospel in the middle east" thing, or the "thank you for his vision for world freedom", but most of the things there are not wrong

I'm a Christian.

I'm not crazy or a "fundamentalist," at least to the best of my knowledge.

How and why the freepers seem to think that this AWOL, coward, substance-abusing, arrogant frat boy POS is "a leader given to us by God" is something I will NEVER understand.

They ought to take that photo of the Emperor and his boyfriend-killing Stepford wife, print it on a nice color postcard, and print that Psalm on the back. That way they could give a copy to the families of service men and women who won't be coming home again, along with the American flag that's draped their coffin that our news media is not allowed to photograph.

:grr:

49. I feel your anger, man
there are days when folks like my brother say to me, "Danielle, let it go. It's been four years, you're kind of obsessed."

And nothing would please me more than to return to life as I once knew it, where I was optimistic and hopeful and uninvolved with politics. But it's impossible. To do so would be to choose ignorance over reality. My brother says, "there's always been corruption and injustice, and there always will be, but it aint the end of the world."

True, but it would be monumentally worse if folks like myself weren't paying attention and fighting for change.
