Favorite popular singer of all time?
My choice: Tony Bennett. He still "has" it. Saw him in Vegas two years ago (when he was 76) and he hadn't lost a thing. Plus he really knows musicians - his were fantastic.

2. Frankie
Sinatra--the soundtrack of our lives. Tony is good, but he needed Nelson Riddle to arrange his earlier stuff.

3. I agree...
There are just too many classics from The Chairman of the Board to say otherwise....

One for the Road.....
The Great, Johnny Mercer.....

It's quarter to three,
there's no one in the place except you and me
So, set 'em up, Joe,
I got a little story you oughta know
We're drinkin', my friend, to the end of a brief episode
Make it one for my baby and one more for the road

I got the routine,
so drop another nickel in the machine
I'm feelin' so bad,
wish you'd make the music pretty and sad
Could tell you a lot, but you've got to be true to your code
So, make it one for my baby and one more for the road

You'd never know it but buddy, I'm a kind of poet
And I got a lot of things to say
And when I'm gloomy, you simply gotta listen to me
Till it's all talked away

Well that's how it goes and Joe,
I know your gettin' pretty anxious to close
So, thanks for the cheer,
I hope you didn't mind my bendin' your ear
This torch that I found must be drowned or it soon might explode
So, make it one for my baby and one more for the road
That long, long road

Man, that song sends me.........

movie. Great song.

"Ol' Blue Eyes" was classic.

But Tony Bennett's still alive and SINGING! I saw Ray Charles in L.A. a few years back, and had to walk out because he'd totally lost it. It broke my heart, because I saw him in his prime in 1963.

Tony Bennett just amazes me today.

5. TB is great, so in Nat Cole, and Dean Martin
and Bab's and rosemary Clooney, but there is only one Sinatra....

He just took a song, any song, and made it his own......

The Summerwind came blowin in across the see.....

6. You got it...
I suppose if I ranked them, dead or alive:

1. Ol' Blue Eyes

2. Nat "King" Cole

3. Tony Bennett

Don't know how far down the list Dean Martin would be, but he's not at the top for me.
