1. Oh man, if the ticket prices are anything like they were here,
You're getting ripped off big time.

10. Not saying she isn't worth it
And after looking at the prices for the San Jose show tonight, you're not getting ripped off, they're actually rather reasonable.

The starting price here in Columbia was 85.00 for the cheap seats, up to 150.00 for good seats. Of course this was a command performance for the Laurie family(Sam Walton's spawn) to break in the new arena they named for their cheating daughter. Now instead of being Paige Arena, it is Mizzou Arena.

Have fun, I hear the show is a blast. There was just no way I was going to pay 85.00 plus for the show.

2. HELP!!!!
Edited on Fri Jan-21-05 01:43 PM by Mabus
My husband is recovering the furniture (using a more tasteful pattern ?!?!?) and is now watching SpongeBob videos 24/7.

Help!!!

on edit: Are SpongeBob sheets really more tasteful than tan? He's got on his SpongeBob jammies and is humming the SpongeBob theme. Should I call Dr. Phil or Jerry Springer?

5. You'll have a blast!
I've seen Cher twice on this "farwell" tour. The show is fantastic.

Where is she playing?

7. San Jose
and I can't wait. I saw her once before and she really puts on a show. My bf got 7th row seats... I'll be able to see the facelift scars!

This is our year of fabulosity. In the last year we've seen Bowie, Cyndi Lauper, Madonna, Bette Midler, Diana Ross, Liza and now Cher.

11. San Jose arena is great.
It's a lot like Staples here in LA. I saw Gloria Estephan there.

So you saw "Miss Ross", eh?

Damn, you're having a major run on the divas.

12. actually
the arena is sorta sucky for shows, unless you can sit in front of the stage. The acoustics are terrible.

Yes, saw Miss Ross in November. She was great.

14. You need a big arena for Cher's show.
I know her choreographer (I went to High School with her) and she told me that they plan on keeping the tour going. Cher is loving it.

16. Good for her
I think she oughtta get one of those big Vegas gigs, like Celine Dion. She can make a fortune, work in one place and have a blast.

21. That could happen.
I even asked Dori (her choreographer) about it. I'm sure one of the casinos would LOVE to have Cher signed to a long gig.

Dori and Cher basically created the entire show themselves. They really work well together and love it. I could easily see them creating another show a big as this one.

19. Indian dude from the Village People
Felipe Rose, Village Person and Lakota, Donates 'Y.M.C.A.' Record to the Indian Museum

By Hank Stuever
Washington Post Staff Writer
Thursday, January 13, 2005; Page C01

brief excerpt:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A5440-2005Jan12.html

Felipe Rose, the Indian dude from the singing group the Village People, presented the National Museum of the American Indian with a framed, gold 45-rpm single of the disco group's 1978 megahit "Y.M.C.A." on Wednesday afternoon.

And the museum happily and ceremoniously accepted it (a Lakota prayer was sung first, then everyone danced to "Y.M.C.A."), on the precept that sooner or later they might need such an artifact of a bygone era, perhaps to flesh out a future exhibit on the folkloric value of disco, and native cultural responses to it. (No, you shut up. It could happen. Why not? There are only so many ceramic pots, war bonnets and kachina dolls that people can stand to look at, and so when the day comes that someone asks, Hey, what about the Indian dude from the Village People? the Smithsonian, as ever, will be ready.)

Rose, who is part Lakota Sioux, missed the big opening of the museum last September. He said he really wanted to go, but the Village People were on tour with Cher.

29. Naw, that's Hank Stuever, he is a hilarious writer for the Post
The Washington Post is really the funniest of the major papers in the country, me used to the sober tone of the NY Times or the LA Times.

27. No way, so am I!
My partner and I will be having dinner at restaurant 7 beforehand (6:30)--if you walk down the Alameda and want to stop in and say "hey," ask for Dean. (I look like a cross between Kenneth Brannagh and Michael Moore.) Always nice to meet other DU-ers.
