What would you do without DU?
Edited on Mon Jan-17-05 05:48 AM by Champ
DU is one of those things in life that once you have, you could not
imagine a normal life without it. For me, I'd probaly only browse the
net 5 times less then I normally do since DU occupies about 95% of my
time spent surfing the net. What about you?

I posted this question in the DU Panic Room, I felt that a member said something that should be stated here.

"lone_star_dem"
I'd find a substitute. I used to be heavy into other forums. I still
am on a couple, most of which are Women Democrat forums.

DU is my personal favorite because it becomes more like a family. We
discuss so many different topics you feel almost as if you do know the
people behind the keyboards.

I will re-post with what I said except slightly modified.

I really do experience that family feel that no other message board can offer imo.

We snipe, passionately debate each other over hot topic issues but
support each other when members are going through very difficult
(sometimes hardest) phases of their personal life. We all cheer and
celebrate together when something great happens and mourn together
when something bad happens to further decline the advancement of this
country or when a tragic event took place. We praise each other when one of us achieves something to improve his/her personal life or reaches a milestone, has a birthday, anniversary, etc. We basically get angry, sad, happy, laugh, cry, etc together.

We live through good and bad times together and really grow a bond
much like a family. We may have our moments of bickering but in the
end most of us are there for each other. Without DU how many of us
would be the same honesty? DU is the voice of reason and sanity which is rapidly declining in this country. Through DU I've made ATLEAST 4-5 good friends that have been some of the best friends I ever had. I wish them well and those who fight hard to take this country back well.

7. would be able to sleep in an extra 45 minutes to an hour
I get up around 4:30 AM just so I'll have time to read and post on this board!

I find a lot of vital information. This is where I get my news.

Don't know as I would call it a family as much as a community. As a mystic, a lot of times I feel quite out of place (just as in real life) because there are very few here who understand or share my point of view when it comes to expressing my faith and relationship to the One. That's why I would like to thank those DUers who started the group for alternative spirituality-there I feel that some folks understand.

8. I've been an addict since I learned about it the day before the election.
I've been having trouble accessing the site for hours tonight, and navigating once I get here. So now I've experienced some time without it, and it wasn't pretty. I wandered aimlessly from site to site, banging into things, had unexplainable bursts of crying, tried to get on Al Franken's site, and thankfully couldn't get on that one either. (Thankfully, because all they do over there is fight with trolls, they never learn). I think I began drooling. Then the sun came out and I was able to at least get on the main page. Slowly, I am regaining the use of the rest of the site. It's a miracle.
