But, many unimportant, completely mindless posts are at least original. And, even a well thought out and witty copycat can be original in its own right. It's the excessive, copying for copying's sake threads that spam the lounge. I don't think there's anything wrong with being annoyed by them, or expressing that opinion. Really, for me, when the lounge has 25 copy cat posts on the front page, it's like weeding through the spam in my email box. It's annoying. I rarely post an original thread in the lounge, because there is no point. Few will see it, because it gets swept page 9 in no time. That IS a legitimate gripe. If it made it to page 9 because there were so many other original posts, that would be one thing. But if it gets swept away because of 20 different versions of one post, then that is aggravating.

We're not all soul sucking, joyless prats who only want importance in the lounge.

It's a "cooling off" area (in theory) where DUers post much ado about nothing. Copycats are an unfortunate byproduct of that concept, but I don't think they should be outlawed.

There is not an issue of what is important and what is not. What there is is an issue of common fucking sense. Have fun all you want. I want my neighbor to enjoy his boom box all the way up until my neighbor's boom box stops me from enjoying my tv. I like to be tickled for about 30 seconds. I don't like to be tickled for 30 fucking minutes straight. Everyone has seen a handful of funny copy cats. Everyone has also seen the lounge taken over by them to the point where participation in the lounge means being mocked at every turn.

Like I said. If copycatting is SUCH an important activity, then WHY not give it it's own venue for the 20 or 30 obsessive compulsive people who must take it over the top on a regular basis.

We may be *stupid*, as described above, for being annoyed about the Lounge. But we're also a little above the level of being amused by TWENTY OR THIRTY copycat threads that are undeniably stupid. Nobody is expecting the Algonquin Round Table here in the Lounge, but we CAN do better.

And, yes, we're entitled to be irritated by this crap, and we're entitled to express our opinion, too. Funny how some folks want to behave like juveniles, and then pout and get all pissy when they're called on it, huh?
