I used not care for cats. When I moved in with my partner, Tony (his cat, originally), didn't care for me, and I didn't care for him. But, we got used to one another. I have been without a job for 19 months, so I am at home all the time and he and I have bonded. I was gone for a week last April. When I returned home, he wouldn't leave my side for three days!!! He even followed me into the john, which I didn't care for! :) All in all, he is a good kitty and very affectionate.

BTW...I love that scary kitten! He scared me so bad, I had tears in my eyes! (Sure, they were from laughing, but they were real tears!)
