21. Its a semantic issue

They are interpretting your position as saying that the man has a right to say what a woman does with her body. What you really seem to be saying is that it would be nice if they would allow the man to talk the matter over.

The resolution is to rephrase it such that in an ideal situation it would be nice for the man and woman to talk about it. As you rightly noted it is the woman's descision in the end. It is social courtesy you are looking for not a right.

my only point was his voice is worth hearing. Of course in situations like rape its a totally different matter. I think that is obvious. In more normal situations, I think its always a good idea to get the opinion of loved ones before making big decisions. Ultimately the choice remains hers. I'm sorry, I didn't mean to bring the discussion in here. I'm going to breath deeply and perhaps start a kitty thread.

Her post was a tad over the top, but I try to understand where she might be coming from in respect to the situation. I also posted on that thread. I find it interesting that a few of the posters seem to forget there are quite a few men who are VERY pro-choice. I doubt they would want our voices silenced. I posted to another thread, and I was semi-flamed, but it was just a misunderstanding and a poster already on-edge. Perhaps, it was a similar situation. I don't know because I am not her. I just like to give people the benefit of the doubt. I am a softie that way. :)

BTW....don't ever back off from giving your opinion, no matter how unpopular (real or perceived)!
