My wanna be fundie mother is visiting this week,
I say wanna be because she believes the stuff but doesn't go to church.

She's only been here since Sat and she is driving me nuts. She's going to be here until next Sat.

On top of being a fundie she is the most naive and gullible person alive.

We were watching David Blaines street magic last night and she actually believed that he can make himself float.

I really try not to get into religious discussions with her, but today my husband started asking her questions about gays and the bible. Even though we render her speechless with no answers she still thinks she wins the argument. I'm going crazy.

Send me luck to get through this week without my head exploding.

2. I empathize.
I had to visit with my in-law for three days. And it was three days too long!

3. Best wishes to you! And my sympathies.
That can be tough, dealing with fundy nutjobs just on a daily basis. But to have to live with and entertain one of 'em...especially one's mother.

Ouch.

Sending you lots of good vibes and energy to endure and get through the week!

But, since she is gullible, I bet there's a way to clean out her bank account while she's there...

Oh - I know! - make sure that she knows that the ACLU and the feminists and the gays and lesbians and the welfare queens and every labor union in the country are pooling their money to print brochures and buy ad time to tell the tsunami victims that it was American Christians who caused the earthquake and tsunamis and that Christians aren't to be trusted. They are also buying a Koran for every single victim and citizen of those countries. Tell her there's a special Rabrrrrrr Fund For the Preservation of the Faith to combat these infidels. Have her send all her money to me, and I will send you back 50% of it.

4. She's old and has epilepsy so we kind of give her a little break
I just like to drive her nuts sometimes by saying I'm not a christian. Then she always says "yes you are".

5. Ah, the old "You were born to Christian parents so you are a Christian"
That argument only works for Jews. I can't think of any other religion that works that way.

Being a Christian is a choice, not a "condition" of birth.

She should know that.

Sorry to hear about the epilepsy. That's a tough one.
