2. I'd just returned from a flight in a Piper Vagabond with a friend...
...of my brother's who, incidentally, was a h-u-g-e Elvis fan. I rode my bike back over to his house to break the news to him. It sucked that, after he gave me such a great ride in his plane, that I had to break his heart...:(

I was 12 at the time.

4. I was 8 years old and I was in Colombia with my family
At the time, I had no idea who Elvis was, but I will never forget my mom and aunts hearing the news on the radio and all of them bursting into tears.

5. I was on vacation "Up North" in Minnesota with my family.
We were at my uncle's lake property. I was inside our cabin playing cards and listening to the radio when I heard the news. I went running outside where the adults were sitting around the picnic table and told them.

7. I was 13
I was at my friend's house hanging out and by that time I wasn't listening to too much Elvis. We were hanging out listening to records and for some strange reason we decided to put "Elvis, Live at Madison Square Garden" on. After we listened to it I walked home and it was late at night. I walked in the door and my whole family were sitting there and they looked at me. They asked if I knew and I said "know what?", and they told me Elvis had died. I was a huge fan as a child and I am a big fan now.

My mom and I were living with my grandparents, and I remember my uncle coming in and saying that Elvis had died. They all cried for hours.

9. I was 5.
I was playing with the kid's of one of my mom's friends at their house. I remember suddenly everyone sitting around the TV saying that Elvis had died. I remember knowing who he was, not much else though at the time. Somehow, it stayed in my memory banks though.

11. It was my 16th birthday
I was just about to go to a party that my friends were throwing for me when the tornado sirens went off. I was sitting in the basement with my mother and sisters. We had the radio on to listen for any information when they announced that Elvis had left the building.

By the time I got out of the house and to the party, my bastard friends had swilled down all of the beer.
