Are y'all watching? It oughta be good. Randy's a minor diety at the Koolzip Kompound.

1. Oh, he's playing "Political Science...."
I wonder if Americans will get the irony.

Tee hee.

2. That is one of my favorite Newman songs.
written in the early 70's. I have the 'Sail Away' cd and would like to get his 'Rednecks' one again too (tells the truth about the south in those days).
Conan is just now beginning here....thankx for the heads up as I have it on now.

4. Absolutely.....
And "Good Old Boys" is another work of total brilliance. Newman's gift is that once you think you've drawn a bead on where he's coming from ("We're Rednecks/We don't know our ass from a hole in the ground") he turns the focus back on the listener ("Yeah, he's free to be put in a cage in Harlem/He's free to be put in a cage in the South Side of Chicago....").

The listener is denied a comfort spot.....Newman is unique in this.

Anyhow, enjoy !

5. I will.
he's not on yet.
Saw a show several years ago where they were interviewing him and he would play short snips of many of his songs. It was great.
I never did care for 'Short People" and not cuz I'm short, just didn't care for it in general.

6. He was good but not enough time on the show........
Did like his quote about 'Political Science' song being very appropriate for these times. Even quoted Rummy.

And Conan......I never watch him. Can't stand his voice, too pipsqweaky for me.

7. I LOVE Newman, am sorry Conan will replace Leno. Was hoping
for an improvement. I rarely find him funny. But I just got 2 DVDs with Randy Newman for Christmas, one of his own show, one in concert with Lyle Lovett.
