Yeah...time to start prayin' for the Moderators
*on bended knee*

Dear Lord, please protect our beloved DU moderators as they prepare to deal with a whole new swath of General Discussion forum rules. The rules themselves are quite good, and just in time, but even a casual reading makes it clear that the moderators will be hopping like frogs on a hot plate to enforce them. They will be tired, Lord, of trembling hand and bleary eye. Shew upon them Your favor and help them kick some ass.

Oh, and thanks for the whole Jesus thing. When You have a moment, drop a note to the Taliban Christians and remind them what the guy was actually talking about before he got nailed to the tree.

Amen.

5. Okay, I have a question...
Here are two examples:

1. I remember you, Pitt, posted one of your pieces about several of the Dem candidates, I remember one specifically about Clark. Under the new rules, your pieces would not be allowed about one specific candidate without a link, right?

2. When Wes Clark announced his candidacy, I posted a thread in GD asking if there were any other Dean supporters who were wavering now that Clark was in the race. The thread went on for over 70 posts, IIRC, and there was no flame-age. Under the new rules, that would not be allowed either, would it?

Just wondering...

10. Yeah, but Will can always...
link to himself as a "news" source...hee...lucky bastard. :-)

Seriously, I posted asking Skinner about that rule and he agreed to rework it a bit. The intent was that posts about the candidates be reltated to a news event but that's not what it the rule actually said. Be interesting to see what kind of change gets made.

12. Did you ask Skinner?
Especially about #2? As for #1, I will just have to post what I post and see what happens. If it gets locked, I'll have my answer.

6. To borrow an expression...
from Michael Moore's "A Prayer to Afflict the Comfortable"

Dear Lord (God/Yahweh/Buddha/Bob/Nobody):

Please send help...our mods need it.

I'm lighting a candle and chanting and spinning that prayer wheel and meditating and praying just as hard as I can 'cause I read the rules and the mods are in for some wailing and gnashing of teeth. Poor bastards. :)

8. And the Lord said:
Edited on Mon Sep-29-03 02:59 PM by Padraig18
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled; neither shall you be afraid."

John 14:27

:)

Courage, mods!

9. It's exciting in a way
A DU referendum on new rules. I've been here for a little bit over two years and I've never seen the likes of it.

I have nothing but respect for the people who mod GD these days. It's a dirty job, but somebody has got to do it, and without them, DU would not be as great of a place as it is.

Cheers to you

11. A supplicant at your feet, we kneel.
(keep it clean!)

These are indeed momentous times--and momentous times require momentous rules

Those who will have the hardest time with them will be the ones who are most affected by them--in other words--the rules will work.

Yes there will be tantrums, hissy fits, and the occasional soiling of underwear--but that's life--folks have to learn to grow up some time.

I for one--can't wait--

BTW--there's already a noticeable difference in the GD forum.

Could be that some of the more misrcreantic of the miscreants have gotten the picture.

Next task...P&C??? (don't think folks would be happy there--not sure though.)

14. Hey Will, while you're praying would you please ask God for...

  • If he knows where the hell the WMDs are. For that matter, where the hell Bin Laden, Hussein and Dick Cheney are located too. Are they all hidden with Jimmy Hoffa's body? Obviously he's not giving the message to Bush even though Bush claims they have a regular conversation. Maybe you'll have better luck
  • How about a prayer for California because they're about to elect an idiot who doesn't have a clue how to run a state and I think the rest of the state that doesn't want Arnold as governor deserve a hell of alot better
  • Where my favorite Black Knit tee-shirt is? I've been looking all over for that shirt. Need some help here please

Thanks Will!
