Ever Have This Happen to You?
Ever have one of those nights where you just can't drop off?

And then, finally, at 2am, you somehow pass out, but then are awoken at 3am by a strange knocking at your door?

And because you're so tired you say, "screw it," with the intention to ignore?

And then the knock comes again, only it's harder and more insistant this time, and you start to maybe freak out a little, because your apartment is in the furthest corner of your complex and it's entryway is totally out of sight of the street and you know damn well that no one has any business knocking on your door at 3am.

So you decide maybe you'd better call 911, because this isn't looking too good; you're a single female and not prone to paranoia, but there have been cases where someone got their door busted down in the middle of the night and raped about a mile away.

Anyway, you start to head to get the phone and all the sudden your apartment is illuminated because whomever is out there is shining a powerful flashlight through the peephole in your front door.

So you get the 911 operator on the line and give him your info and say "I'd like to report suspicious prowling activity." And the 911 operator does some asking, and then tells you that this isn't the first call they've gotten about a prowler at your building, and police are on the way.

Then, after checking with someone, the 911 op asks you to go to your door and open it. You do. There's a cop outside your door who was just knocking on it 2 minutes ago.

The cop tells you some drunk guest of one of your downstairs neighbors' was lost and trying to get into other apartments than where he shoulda been.

And then you try to go back to sleep, knowing the alarm clock is going to go off in 90 minutes.

Sucks.

4. Ah, the joys of rental units.
There is NOTHING like owning your own home. It took me a good month or two after I bought to really appreciate ownership. The ability to distance yourself from idiots!
I remember when I was working the night shift and was sound asleep at about 10am in a rental unit. I awake to someone trying to open the door but couldn't because the chain was hooked up. I roll out of bed and see a guy still trying to enter. I ask him WTF? He says he has to paint the door and I HAVE to open the door for him. I tell the clown he HAS to leave and not return. He says I HAVE to leave the door open so he can paint it. I tell him to wait a minute while I go get my gun. He wasn't there when I got back. I didn't hear anything from the property manager about it either.

7. Um....
I had a similar thing happen, but the TWO cops outside my door insisted someone had phoned 911 from MY phone (which no one did) and insisted on tramping through my apartment looking for a kidnap/assault victim for 15 minutes.

When the dust cleared and they finally called in to check on which the address the call originated from, it was my street and apt. number, but a different avenue.

I WAS NOT HAPPY.

Hope whoever really did call them made it.

8. I had a cop looking for my neighbor knock on my door at 3 AM
He said he had to "drop something off for her." This was not an official visit but a social call. He seemed surprised that I was pissed off at being awoken in the middle of the night for his bullshit.

asshole

10. I have a friend in college...
Who knows someone that gets so drunk on a weekend basis.. instead of trying to find his dorm room.. he finds the first unlock one and just falls asleep on the floor.... My friend's dorm has been chosen once or twice... so your not the only one who gets random drunk people knocking on the door trying to get in :)
