Philosophically, how am I supposed to deal with this world without just blowing up? I mean, our country is being shit on. The Constitution is being SHIT on. Our REAL values, our reputation, our integrity are all being SHIT on. And our intelligence is being insulted.

Our country is truly becoming fascist.

FASCIST. I can't even believe it.

On a personal level, how does one DEAL with this? I can't take it!!

LOL!!

I'm laughing, but I'm telling ya, I'm angry as FUCK!

:)

What do you do? What should I do? It's FASCISM, for criminy's sake!!

People just don't like it if you say Bush is as bad as Hitler.

On edit: How do you deal with this without just....blowing up? I can't stand it.

5. I've recently started posting over there again
I usually get ignored or jumped on. I see what's going on too. Why don't the others?

6. Many, many do here on DU...in fact, most people do...
But I just feel so powerless.

You know...it's like we're watching a car wreck in super-super-slo-mo. There's nothing we can do. Our country's just...going to be destroyed LOL and we're just going to have to watch it.

It's maddening.

8. I know how you feel
I spent last night sending e-mail/filling out webforms asking every single Dem Senator to be the one to stand with Conyers tomorrow. I have to do something!!!

10. Yeah, I sent emails to Durbin and Obama...
Course, I immediately got back a form email from Obama talking about how they're still making the transition and aren't prepared to deal with anything right now (almost a quote).

11. I didn't get Obama, there was no e-mail address listed for him
on the Senate page. I got everyone else though. I figure that being new, he probably won't stand up anyway (unless a lot of others do). I've gotten auto responses back from Lautenberg, Reid, and one from Hawaii stating that if I don't live in their state I won't get a real response. Guess what, I live in Texas. Who was I supposed to write in my own state? Tom DeLay's friends? Gag! I don't want a personal response anyway. I want to see someone standing tomorrow.

Gotta go get in the shower...work beckons!

senators and a highly Democratic state compared with others, I feel like I am watching the same car wreck about to happen. There is no doubt this administration is destroying the country and so many people voted for it. 2006 and 2008 will be no different than 2004...it will just keep getting worse on all levels and areas; economically, militarily, politically, internationally, environmentally, more job loss, lower education standards, social program cuts, etc. Yes totally maddening and a very helpless feeling

7. I agree
if Jan 6th goes to shit, I don't know what I am going to do.

I do know that I will never support or vote for any incumbent DEM who does not support Conyers.

As far as I am concerned it will the end of the Democratic Party and I might as well quite wasting my time with them.

I even handed the Kerry campaign prima facia evidence of collusion between the Bush/Cheney campaign and the SBVT. I'm talking documents that would hold up in a court of law.

All along I've defended Kerry. Telling people here to trust him. That he knew what he was doing. Somehow I feel a bit like Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, this is the DEMS darkest hour. It's all or nothing now but I am no longer able to hope that Kerry or anyone else is going to save the day and America.

9. So, how do you deal with that?
Seems like the conclusion my mind keeps coming to is: move. It's like this dead-end I keep coming to no matter what garbage the Republicans are pulling.

Just move, and let the shit die. Hope for a rebirth of some kind.

12. Disengage some
I've had to back away from it all. I had decided that 11/2 would be our last chance. The die is now cast and it will take major events or new leadership (from where I can't imagine) to turn things around.

I've accepted that my influence on national events is inconsequential at best and it is not worth torturing yourself over evt=ents you have absolutely no control over.

George Carlin recently said in an interview, and I paraphrase, "I don't have a stake in the future any longer. I don't care what happens to this country...Being born into this world gives you a ticket to a giant freak show and living in the U.S. gives you a front row seat".

So I'm focusing on the small arena of the world that I can have some influence on, my family, friends, volunteering at the local animal shelter, getting out into the woods as much as possible.

I promised myself that I wasn't going to make myself sick over the crimes of "our" government. They're going to do what they're going to do. I don't watch TV "news", listen mostly to Columbia College radio, and just scan the headlines of the local newspaper. DU keeps me very well informed and I can pick what I want to read. Oh yes, I've given up Newsweek for The Economist.

Some might call this giving up. I call it saving my soul.

13. There are couple of paths that I am considering
One is that if enough people want to start a viable 3rd party, I will do everything I can do personally to make that a reality.

meditation and green tea or

loud music and gin

sometimes I alternate between the two.
