what is GD?

Once upon a time, there was a magical, beautiful place in which people discussed a variety of topics.

Then.... an evil monster called "Primaries" crawled up from the muck and wreaked havoc on the Xanadu that was GD. It turned into a hellish place, filled with wailing, gnashing of teeth, and flamebait.

Many of the ancient ones still believe that it's possible to return GD to its former beauty.

23. Newcomer but I wish I knew what DU was like long ago..

the pages go so fast, like panning for gold or looking for a needle in a haystack. I feel sorry for the moderators.

If you have advice for a newcomer on how to not contribute to the problem or how to counteract it, please give it. I finally figured out not to reply to the candidate threads so they will go away quicker.

I want the old DU back, sight unseen.

The only advice I have is to enjoy yourself here. Jump in when you find a topic that interests you. But follow the posted rules and try hard not to start a thread that reflects dozens of previous threads.

Don't get discouraged. This is a great site - we're just going through a tough time.
