Who has colored or dyed their hair?
I'm thinking of maybe getting blond highlights in my hair. I'm tired of my icky mousy brown hair.

3. I got gold highlights last year
They used three different colors to make it multi-tonal, and it looked pretty good I think. It's a great pick-me-up when you're in a rut.

4. get it done professionally
have a "summer" highlight put in -- it's pretty gentle, won't screw up your hair, not an extreme change, and will still look pretty natural. If you like the change and want more have another one done in about a month and it will gradually lighten your hair to a shade you're happy with.

Me, my excuse is to cover the silver (been silver since early twenties), and it looks FABULUMOUS. Gotta keep the tits shaved though.

5. I have.
Highlights sometimes look good, but a full-on dyejob always looks pretty shit to me. Unless it's a color that clearly isn't intended to look natural--then it can be cool. :D

6. I've been pretty much every color of hair.
Blonde, red, and black. Highlights are cool, but I would get them professionally done if you can afford it -- that's always been my motto, pay for the real thing and they won't fuck up your hair.

Also, you're gonna have to get them touched up about every 6 or 8 weeks if you don't wanna look funny. Just FYI. That's the biggest reason I'm back to my natural color -- got sick of financing my hairdresser's boat. :silly: But it's fun -- go for it! :D

8. I have.
I've been having my hair colored for about seven years. I'm a natural blonde, but after age 30, it took on that dull dirty dishwater ashy look. I have highlights done every three months to brighten it up.

My husband just started getting his colored too. He also had dull dishwater blonde hair, and it was getting darker and duller looking. He went auburn with a kind of golden tone to it. It looks great on him.

11. Yes, we both do.
I had a fiasco in '98 and haven't colored my own hair since.

It's $40 for my highlights. I don't know what his color costs. He pays for it out of his "fun money", so I don't see the bills. I can ask him.

9. If you are unsure
try a dye that washes out in about 6 weeks. With highlights you will have roots and you'll have to go back and get your roots touched up.

Talk to your stylist--they'll be able to offer some good suggestions.

12. i have a highlights in my hair.
it is foiled professionally. i only do a partial foil which means only the top part is done, as opposed to the full head so it looks like natural highlights (plus it's cheaper ;))

i really like it

I was born a blonde, but it started to darken when I was 15, so I decided I was going to remain a blonde. I have been bleaching my hair for many, many years. I won't say how many, but now I have to keep the gray from showing.

14. When I started greying at the temples,
(somewhat prematurely, at age 27) I just said "fuck it" and dyed my hair jet-black. Then, when it started to grow back in, my hair was black and brown and grey and it just looked like total shit, so I shaved it off and started over. Now I just fly the J. Jonah Jameson flag, albeit with a way better haircut. The compliments I get on it blow my freakin' mind.
