I am so effin' sick of the GD effin' clouds!
I bought a 10" newtonian telescope at the end of October, and for Christmas, I got a pair of astronomical binoculars.

But I haven't been able to use either more than a scant handful of times because it has been UNIFORMLY GODDAMN MOTHERFUCKING OVERCAST EVERY GODDAMN MOTHERFUCKING NIGHT!!!

Is it normal in Houston never to see the fucking sky after October?

1. Tell everyone to turn off their cars for the day
and give the refineries the day off as well. The sky will clear up toot sweet.

3. Drive out away from town a bit.
We've have had some clear nights lately. But, there's a marine layer along the coast, not to mention the pollution cloud.

4. Get in your car and drive about 5 hours to our ranch and you will see
all the wonderful sky you want. There is far too much light interference in Houston (or any city) to use your scope properly. There are several stargazing societies that meet outside urban areas for viewing. Try to join one of those.

5. Yeah, I'm in the Houston Astronomical Society

They have a site between Houston and San Antonio that is dark.

And I sometimes go to the George Observatory, in Brazos Bend State Park... that's dark.

But my problem lately has not been lack of dark skies, it's been lack of CLEAR skies!

7. Was at the ranch a few days ago and there were stars aplenty.
If weather is causing your problem, then just wait a few moments and all will change. I so love and miss Houston: the restaurants, the shopping, the museums, the opera, the ballet, the symphony, the diversity of people. Sigh!!!

6. After reading that
someone was afraid of going to General Discussion, that's what I thought this thread was about (GD).

B-)
