She sent me a Christmas card.
I haven't seen or heard from her for three years - after she broke my heart and walked out of my life. She said we could still be friends and she would keep in touch - I knew that was BS but I didn't care.

I tried to keep in touch with her, but she moved several times and finally the last email I sent got bounced back to me.

The return address is her parents' house and inside she says only "Happy Holidays to ya!, Love ____"

I thought I was over her, but...

4. Sounds like she's testing the waters.
She probably wants to know if you're still mad at her. She may have something worthwhile to say - would it hurt to talk?

Maybe she's on an ego trip. Maybe she's got a communicable STD and wants someone to take care of her.

I never heard of a case where something that died three years before was successfully re-incarnated. It is better to move on to the whole wider world.

5. I've had this happen
If it's been three years - have you moved on yet? I know sometimes it can take a while.

If you have a new person in your life - don't drop it all because this girl contacted you. The days with her were probably as good as your remember, but the bad ones are easily forgotten.

If you still carry the torch - perhaps this is an opportunity to let go. My family used to sit around the fire at the end of the year and burn the calendar while talking about all the things that happened that year. A possible idea would be to get together with a sympathetic friend and get drunk, talk about the relationship, and burn the card. Perhaps the symbolic ritual will help you move on.

Or do you want to move on?

8. I don't know..
I knew a guy who really broke my heart like that too...said he wanted to be "friends." He would throw me crumbs (like that card) all the time. Like he got off knowing how much I cared about him..like he would get close just enough to see I still cared for him then back away then I'd get hurt all over again. I think it made him feel good about himself that he had this little doormat who would do anything for him. I finally wised up and moved on.

I would ignore her and don't be so quick to write her back...if she really wants you, she will let you know. If not...you're not out anything. just my opinion. Good luck! :)

I think about you often when I'm making love to my current lovers. It helps make the sex last longer.

13. You could contact her if you can handle it emotionally
If you talk to her, try to keep it on a friend level if you can. Maybe, she is actually now ready to be friends. You never know. I have had friends who I cared a great deal about, but for various reasons did not contact them for a long time. I wouldn't expect anything more.
