Dumb quasi-newbie question of the day--Buddies List
Is it good for anything, other than keeping track of some of your friends...

For the longest time I only had one name on my list, but now it looks like I'm going to have to add a few more :hi: ...

Should you inform your "Buddie" that you are adding him/her to your list?

Is there anyway of finding out who has you on their list?

Just curious that's all...

1. A buddy list is great for sending private messages.

you don't have to search for a person to find their send private message icon -it's already there. Plus, during the election, those little icons were lost altogether due to high traffic. I wouldn't have been able to find anyone without it! It doesn't have to be mutual either.

On edit: one of the preferences allows you to receive an e-mail if someone adds you to their buddy list.

It's just that i met one or two people so far that I've been getting to know personally, and i wanted to be sure they knew that I knew that I recognized them.

2. It is an address book for PM purposes
No reason to tell the person you are adding them to your buddy list. If you add someone to your regular email account address book do you feel you have to tell them?

4. Another thanks
I'm interested because there has been a few DUers I've had private message correspondences with so far...

One more question tho, maybe it's forbidden to ask but, how private are private messages? I mean, do the Mods have access to them?

I hope I don't sound too naive. Just trying to play it safe on the Internet, ya know...

5. The Mods? No I believe not.
Pretty sure only the site owner and admin have access to everyone's PM.
