hello all, did anyone miss me???
Hello to to all of you, it's been awhile since I was here. Boy does time fly when you are having fun. I have been so busy that I haven't even had time to check out ebay. LOL!!! Plus my daughter (if you remember her ladybug87) has a new boyfriend and the phone is now becoming attatched to her ear. (we still have dial up)

Anyways I had a few mins. this morning and thought I would check out DU and say howdy and tell you all I haven't forgotten all of my good friends here at DU.

I also have some exciting news to share too.

We just had our (the little town I live in) biggest event for us. This is an annual event that is kinda like a national holiday for us. It is the Sheridan WYO Rodeo. Just about everybody who has ever lived here comes back for it plus we get all sorts of tourists. Well anyways we always have a parade and our local Democratic party enter a float. This was our second time as we had one last year too. I was made chair of the parade float committee. The theme for this year's parade was: "Where Liberty Reins" a little play on words. So I came up with the idea of haveing a bucking bronc with rider done up really large. He measured 9' high and 8' wide. The rider was decked out in blue shirt w/ white stars and red and white striped chaps. The horse was a buckskin color. The rider was holding in his free hand The Bill Of Rights and on the horse I wrote the words Dictatatorship, Oppression, Repression, Suppression, Defenselessness, Military State, and One Set Religion. Then I made a sign so all of the repugs could grasp the concept of the float. It read: The U.S. Constitution and The Bill Of Rights Keeps Reins on Dictatorship, Oppression, Repression, Suppression, Defenselessness, One Set Religion, Military State, ETC. So that all U.S. Citizens can have life Liberty and pursue happiness.

We put the horse on the trailer, surrounded him with what looked like an old fashioned corral complete with sagebrush around the posts. Then we placed flags in all four corners and the red, white and blue skirting with a banner that read; "Where Liberty Reins"

Well our float one Pick Of The Parade. The highest award given for the parade. We were the only ones who actually made a float that was the parade committee's vision when they came up with that theme. This award may not sound like much to a lot of you, but like I said earlier this rodeo is like the Olympics here and we just won a major gold medal. It was great publicity for us. We got great big headlines in the local news. It is just one of the many ways we are going to show this town that the Democrats are alive and well and we are not going to go away. But what was so funny was the republican women's float. This will make you all ROFLYAO. They were pulling an old sheep wagon. All of us hit the ground when we saw it. We all thought how befitting as they are all a bunch of sheeple anyways.

Well I had better get a move on with my day. I have to see about entering our float in two more parades being held fairly local. I'll try and come back around a little more often. Take care everyone.

2. How did that go over in Cheney country?!
I'm so glad to hear there are still Democrats--proud, left-wing Democrats--in Cheney's realm. Are there a lot of you? Pardon my East Coast ignorance. I'd love to see you Dems stage a coup--a legitimate one, of course--out in Wyoming.

4. Actually we got quite a bit...
of positive responses from the crowd as the float went by. We are still trying to pull the Dems out from the woodwork. The repugs have repressed quite a few and they are afraid to come out. But we are slowly rebuilding the party and having a Democratic Gov. is helping a lot. Our local party is doing a lot of things here locally that is showing that it is Okay to be a Democrat and be a Proud one to boot. The other counties have different campaigns trying to do the same as we are. I think before to long there will be a coup. There are a lot more Dems or Dem minded people in this state than what most people think. Here locally we are exposing a lot of coruption that is going on from County Comissioners to the elections board. We have to be very carefull on how we do it as not to sound like a bunch of whining Dems. But We are getting enough out that even the repugs are getting sick of the coruption. I'm hoping that very soon the Dems will take back WY. We have some big elections coming up for next year and one of the slogans so far is: "Remember the ABCs, Anyone But Cubin."

5. That's so heartening!
Are there any Democratic centers, like university towns? Anyplace like Missoula, for instance? (Is it Missoula where all the lefties in Montana live?)

7. I think that around Laramie and Cheyenne
there are a lot more Dems. Or at least more outgoing ones. Our area is mostly ranching and coal mines and so we are outnumbered by repugs. But since we got a totally awesome Chairman of the local party we have come a long ways in the past few years. He's a young, vivacious man with a lot of energy that has gotten everybody shake, rattle and rolling. He helped with one of the Gov. races in Montana and he was able to get the man he campaigned for elected. He does some sort of lawyering so he knows quite a bit of the laws or how to interpret(sp?) them. It's so nice to have somone with his vim and vigor as that is something the local party lacked and why it was dying out. But what is also nice is that he's not so over zealous that the older Dems are able to keep up and be a part of bringing back the party. We have a wide range of ages and he's so insperational that everyone is encouraged to get out and do what we each do best.

I think you are correct about Missoula. I also think Bozeman is another big lefty area for Montana as well. But both areas have big colleges. Our Biggest college is in Laramie.

3. Good to see you again
That's great news about the float. Awesome idea - it certainly deserved the Pick of the Parade.

Wish I could see a pic of the floats. The republican one sounds absolutely hilarious!

Don't be a stranger. :D

6. Hopefully I'll get a picture developed
so I can show you all what the float looked like. Someone may have to help me as I'm still not quite sure as to how to do it. I could show a black and white photo that was in the local news as I do have that handy. But a color photo will have to be another time. Can I e-mail the photo to someone and have them post it?? If so just drop a note in my inbox and I'll scan it and send it.

If not someone will need to give good directions on how to post a pic.
