1. Sorry, but I don't drink beer - I take my chardonnay on the
oakier side, if that is of any interest to you! :hi:

Thanks for asking. And you, how are your Big Day plans coming along with the Prophetess? Will she be in DC as well?

6. She's coming in for the weekend
She has to teach classes all week unfortunately, so she can't get away until Friday-which is too bad, since this is the only chance we'll have to see each other in January.

9. So you will be there for the week?
I will send you some pm's closer to the event so we can make sure the we hook up as well as other DUers who are going! I know what hotel I am staying in, but that's the extent of my plans so far.

11. I get in Wednesday afternoon
and I am open to suggestions as to where people are staying...
I don't want to rent a car, whichj restricts me to Metro, and restricts hotels to $120/night or more. I'd rather not pay that much. I'd see about staying with friends, but I don't think any of them live near Metro stops.

13. Damn. I know some of the hotels are forcing a 3 night ridiculous rate

minimum, but I know of someone who has some rooms. I think that's for anyone who wants to crash. You can ask me if you want for information. I don't think that would have to be on a Metro stop for you because someone will have a car and be able to help you. I'll send you a pm with my hotel information - I don't have it handy. I think it may be on a metro stop, but again, if not, I'll have transportation - and I'm pretty sure it was in your price range.

12. Is that a criticism on the brands?
If so, do you have a favorite brand?
Personally Sam Adams or Bass usually is what I favor. Also microbrews too.

14. well
neither Sam Adams, nor Bass are exactly what I'd consider beer. Bass (oww, the next morning) is a nice try, Sam Adams is not even that. (IMSO - In My Snobby Opinion)

Microbrews are a wide field; there certainly are excellent ones, but being microbrew doesn't automatically make a brew good. Same goes for imported: I know several(most actually) great European beers, which don't taste like they should stateside.

My vote goes to Jever; but there are several other good beers available in the US (there was one good Pils from Pennsylvania, but I don't remember the name).

I'd have a keg of Lindeman's Kriek. But I don't have that kind of money...

18. Pilzner Urquell kegs are hard to come by
outside of Pilzen, Czech republic. Serious beer drinkers should consider a pilgrimage to the brewery.

21. don't bother
Since the takeover by SAB there is only one question left:
which one is the worst: Which brewery brews the worst "Urquell". They brew it all over the world now - not even the Czech brewed can be considered good any more.
