West Wing season opener tonight
I consider Josiah Bartlett to be the real President of the United States. As such, I take the West Wing very seriously. I'd like to point out that the new season debuts tonight at 9:00 EST/PST, 8:00 CST/MST.

5. I'll be watching tonight with great interest.
as a watcher of West Wing since day one, I am very interested in how the "more bipartisan" show will turn out. I have seen various interviews with the stars and each one said they were very happy with how the first episodes have come out.

8. Will Zoe be rescued/found?
Dead or alive???

Will John Goodman be as big a dick as I think he's going to be as the Puke Speaker of the House? Will he "bomb the hell out of something" like, e.g., the nation of Qumar?

What will Jed do while he's out of power????

I CAN'T WAIT!!!

11. It's on now
I'll give it a try but I'm not sure if I'll like it with the new directions they are talking about taking and Sorkin gone.

12. me too
It was one of the best written shows on TV. Why does it have to be bipartisan? It is not a talk show. It is fiction after all. What happens in Walken does not relinquish the PResidency? What are the odds of that? Could this happen in real life?

13. West Wing
Sorkin's politics are my politics. Nonetheless, I dislike agenda driven TV. And West Wing's purpose was to promote Sorkin's agenda. Again, I stress that I share his views. But it's unseemly to use the show (or any show) to ram it down our throats. Won't watch it.

14. Too each their own
but I always considered that one of the show's strengths. First and foremost, it is a compelling story with well-developed characters and tight plot lines. The fact that it covers an agenda helps boil issues down in a way they are easily understandable for the masses. I have been enlightened about a number of complex topics and you also get insight into the way the game of politics is played.

BTW, if you don't watch it, how do you know he "rams it down our throats"? Also, Sorkin is no longer writing the show and they'll have more Repug viewpoints. Maybe you'll enjoy it this season.

15. we get inundated 24/ with the fascist party POV
Thank God there are movies and TV show willing to educate people about the less crude and greedy aspirations of government and the human spirit.

17. This is one of the MOST PAINFUL things I've watched on TV in a while.
I don't know how much longer I can take a Republican president, LOL.

It's a good thing I like John Goodman!

The worst was the meeting when they were all looking at Goodman as he was making decisions...their faces were so sad...

I imagine this is leading up to a major 'fight' when Bartlet decides he wants to come back.....don't know if I can make it til then!

19. To which I say 'Bully!"
My wife hated the show. I loved it. They made Goodman's character look like a transparent, evil simian, kinda like...well, you know.

To ape Rummy's style: "Does John Goodman make it look as though a Republican President is a GOOD thing? I think the F***K not."

20. I enjoy it for its entertainment value
I even have friends and relatives who are not progressives that enjoy the show. It's well-written, well-directed, intelligent and moves so quickly that it draws you in.

I think the first episode was just as entertaining as anything they did last season... or the season before....
