The "Are you a maverick who stands out walking down the street.....
in your hometown" thread.

If you are, cool, I thinks that's pretty darn cool, as a matter of fact.  :)

1. No
I'm one of those liberals who go undercover. I don't mean to, but I do dress really conservatively and I look very conservative. I'd fit right in at a county puke meeting. Right in.

Until I opened my mouth, that is.

But it's nice because people assume I'm like them and then I surprise them by slamming them once I realize they've assumed certain things about me.

7. I don't MEAN to
but if you saw me, you'd understand. I am VERY conventional looking, very clean cut, etc.

It's just me, my style. I could look more "liberal" but I think what's more important is my positions on the issues, and the work I do towards those ends, not how I look per se.

Besides, pukes just HATE it when someone in a nice outfit starts talking smack about their positions on the issues.

3. That would be me.
Ever since I move here I have stood out. I thought of trying to blend in then looked around me and decided not to. :)

4. Very much so
I also stand out in my adopted home, and in my place of work. But then, I've never really fit in anywhere and I like it that way. I am known as a "free spirit."

5. I *sorta* stand out.
We have a lot of Hispanics here, maybe 35% of the population, but I'm the only 6'2" one with a ponytail, so I do sorta stand out.

:P

6. People cross the street when they see me coming.
Does that count?

8. When people have seen us and are brave enough to approach...
...they will ask one of three questions.

Are you two in a rock and roll band?

Do you own Harley's?

Are you Howard Stern (to my bf)?

The answer is no to all the above. We are both nearing 40 and needless to say we do not look conservative nor would we fit in with the local PTA. Parents fear us but the kids just love us :)
