1. College football...the Bowl Championship Series
It's a huge deal--I don't know much about college ball, but I do know that like a zillion different bowls take place over the next few weeks.

2. Bowl Championship Series

a formula used to determine who are the top two teams in the nation to play for a National Championship. The ranking is determined as follows:

1) 1/3 determined by ESPN/USA Today coaches poll ranking
2) 1/3 determined by AP press poll ranking
3) 1/3 determined by the average of 6 computer rankings

The No. 1 and No. 2 teeams play in a determined bowl game for the Nat'l Championship. There are 3 other bowl games that are part of the BCS (6 additional spots). BCS rankings and certain conference championships determine who else fills those slots.

it leaves much to be desired because there are 5 teams who finished the season undefeated and only the top two can play for the championship. Its a way for the university presidents to avoid a playoff system.

Every year, at least one team gets screwed by the BCS.
