I love the Barefoot Contessa
First off she reminds me of my mother.

I also like her show and her style - all about good food simply prepared and shared with others.

I just bought her Family Style cookbook and her forward is about food and family. And she's VERY clear that she has an inclusive sense of family -- she lists, among others, gay couples, childless couples, single parents, groups who just get together out of affectionate as FAMILIES.

She reminds me how far our crappy presidential administration is from even caring about people.

1. You said it all.
She's lovely and a very warm person. Her meals reflect a true wholesomeness and comfort level with anyone that is hard to find with some of these tv chefs.

I also like Rachel Ray. She seems very sincere.

I can't put my finger on it, but there are a few that I wouldn't want to spend a moment of time with.

3. Loves her cocktails AND her gay friends!
I really like how much she seems to enjoy dining and being with friends.

Her cooking isn't about stunning guests with her technique (not that there's anything wrong with that), but about showing love for them.

4. I think she worked in the Clinton White House
Some sort of nuclear advisor, if I remember correctly. (And I don't vouch for the memory this morning.)

5. It was in 78 as a financial analyst, so not quite the Clinton white house
Though I do ADORE the idea of her as a nuclear advisor!
