33. Relief. I thought the Simpson's may be jumping the shark.
After last week's overtly political show, I am re-enthusiastic about the show. The politics has always been subtle and ironic, but WOW last week was great.
Marge is a serial complainer. As one never satisfied with the status quo and as a believer in the idea that things can be better, Marge is more left-leaning.
I'd forgotten about the gay innuendos surrounding Smithers, but that fits him to a tee. I was only considering his toady tendencies. Log Cabin Republican describes him perfectly, though: voting against his best interests.
26. I could easily see Smithers as the self loathing Log Cabin Repub.
BTW if you've watched all the shows, Smithers is clearly gay. Remember the one with John Waters, where Smithers had cancelled out on his date with the John Waters character and was confronted when they ran into each other? Among many incidents...
Sideshow Bob Dr Hibbert Mr Burns Mr Smithers (although he is a log cabin repuke) Rainier Wolfcastle Kent Brockman (?) Birchibald T Barlow Krusty the Klown
* supporters -Rainier Wolfcastle -Ned Flanders (I haven't been this happy since we stole the 2000 election) and probably Rod and Todd Flanders when they grew up. Also Ned was great friends with Poppy Bush -Reverend and Helen Lovejoy -Mr Burns -Milhouse's Mom -Dr Hibbert -Police Chief Wiggum (he's so bad at his job he'd probably identify with *) -Kent Brockman (selfish, interested in money and willing to sell out his ideology to the highest bidder) -Lurleen Lumkin
Kerry supporters Lisa Marge Smithers Apu and Manjula Principal Skinner Mrs Krabappel Miss Hoover (something about the way she looks makes me think she's a liberal)
IND/unsure Bart-would probably either lean toward libertarian or wouldn't vote Homer -Would probably vote for Kerry to spite * but would probably lean toward Independent Comic Book Guy-Probably wouldn't vote because he'd be too cynical with all the candidates Lenny Carl Moe-I think he could be persuaded to vote for Kerry but he's much more likely to vote libertarian
30. Don't forget the Rich Texan. I think they have even had him in some of
the Republican Party HQ meetings up in the Transylvania looking castle sitting behind a placard that says "Rich Texan". "In my day we never had the environment!"
I think he was featured heavily in the one where Lisa was doing her tree protest.
We know how "our" Skinner votes but what about theirs? He's big on law and order, morally conservative but has had pre-marital relations. Also I think he would identify with Kerry because of Nam
She would never allow herself to be caught in the two party system.
Marge-Kerry/Edwards Bart- Itchy/Scratchy Homer-Write In "Chesty McBoob" Maggie-Kerry/Edwards Moe-wouldn't vote Comic Store guy-Bush Apu-Kerry/Edwards Ned Flanders-Bush Maude Flanders-Kerry/Edwards-because she secretly fantasizes about John Edwards, but would tell Neddie she voted for Bush Principal Skinner/Supt. Chalmers/Edna Krrabapple-Kerry/Edwards because of the awful reality of "No Child Left Behind" Chief Clancy Wiggum-Bush C. Monty Burns-C'mon...they modeled Cheney's character after Burnsie Ralph Wiggum-he'd choo choo choose to eat the ballot and stuff the pencil in his nose.
