5. I am 34, and I watch it with enthusiasm. Good on you and your
friends. Childhood should never be left behind. For me, it's comforting memories of being a kid wrapped up in the magic of this time of year. I like seeing that repeated on my kids faces. (I've been known to watch them with no kids around) ;)

14. I'm 38, and I love to watch Rudolph.
I can still remember being a little bit afraid of the snow monster when I was a little girl.

16. NPR Did a Story on Rudolph this a.m.
There's apparently a book out on the making of the classic.

It took 18 months to make the 50-minute film. They had to painstakingly move each hoof, etc.

GE sponsored the show, and apparently wanted a new song added...Do you know which song was "later" added?

Yes....apparently, if you look closely....you'll see a change with the snow on the trees.

I've never noticed, but I'll be looking now.

21. I heard that too.
NPR did a nice job. And they devoted at least 10 minutes to the story.

27. Yes, I want that book now!
I loved the line about "elves with some sort of identity crisis" or something...when referring to Herbie...

8. I can't think of Rudolph w/o thinking of the Angels.
Gene Autry wrote the song and was the first owner of the Angels baseball team.

Yes, I know. Angels & baseball on the brain. O8) There are worse things.

...after Bing Crosby turned it down.

It was written by Johnny Marks.

13. Dude.
 only because there's no smiley for embarrassment. I always thought Autry wrote it. I hate being disabused of assumptions in public. :dunce:

Well, no matter. The song will always make me think of # 26 and his Angels.

17. He Was So Closely Associated With It....
...that I can understand your associating #26 and The Angels with it.

If I remember correctly, Gene Autry DID write "Here Comes Santa Claus".

15. My Rudolph Story
Today is our 20th anniversary.

My husband and I were married on this day, 20 years ago.

One of my favorite wedding memories was getting into our limousine, sharing champagne -- and when we switched on the TV for fun, "Rudolph" was on! (Celebrating their 20th anniversary!)

I wonder, does anyone else quote from that show as much as we do?

26. Thank you!
I have quite the collection of those "misfits" and Rudolph and his family too -- remember when CVS was selling them a few years ago?

We use a variety of the lines...and it seems everyone "gets" it when we do. LOL

Are you in dentistry?

I'll be watching! It's a holiday tradition.

The show is truly a classic -- and unlike so much of what passes for children's entertainment these days, it's very sweet and gentle.

Long live Rudolph! :)
