2. I used to live in Chino Hills - in the aptly-named 'Carbon Canyon'.
Almost got burned out of our house the first year we lived there. :scared: We only lasted for about 18 months before I got transferred to NoCal.

22. Housing for the Rich Costs At Least One More Digit (maybe 2) in CA
$750,000 isn't even close to "Rich" housing in the SF or LA area.

Check out the For Sale signs in a wealthy neighborhood here.
That's not the telephone number, it's the price!

used to be a dump. We used to haul our trash up there from Imperial Highway just before you get to the Brea mall.

20. IDK
it's been years since I lived in the Placentia/Yorba Linda area, but if I lived in Carbon Canyon, i'd be wary of the ground water/drinking water.

21. I don't get it around here folks spread it into the fields plowed for ....
next years crops. Why would they just collect it and not use it? Could this stuff be the dried manure we buy for flowers and gardens. That will burn like peet moss.

Oh the fresh smell of manure on a summers night.

Edited on Mon Nov-29-04 01:24 PM by SoCalDem
but malls, and housing developments have encircled the dairy area, and they have nowhere to put the doo..:(

Lots of dairymen have actually moved upstate, herds and all, because of the congestion..

28. Most all manure is composted and sold as a soil amendment,
even mainstream conventional farmers use it. Added profit for cattle man.
Very surprised it would catch on fire unless it was more or less abandoned and very dried out.
A guy who claims to be the last big dairy farmer from the Chino area moved his entire operation to a few miles from me in Montana a couple years ago.
Last time I drove though Chino years ago the place smelled like shit, a fire might be an improvement.
