Any words you think should be BANNED from the english language?

Words like fag, queer, nigger, cunt, whore, etc.

I myself feel that every person has the right to say ANY word they want. Of course they must also except the retaliation for their usage of the word, right?

So, what're your opinions?

I consider the term offensive

"what-not" offends me every time I hear it. That and when white folk say "dope" meaning "cool".

But as for offensive words that should be banned? None.

"Bitch". I know of many people who use it that wouldn't dream of using a racial or ethnic slur. I find that word very offensive.

11. My friends and I use that all the time

The word "bitch" is a positive with my friends. If I call one of my friends a bitch, it automatically means "good job standing up for yourself and being a strong woman." I always say thank you after being called a bitch. I guess you need to know your audience before saying it.

ETA: I don't think any words should be banned. I remember reading once that all languages are perfect. We need all the words we have even if they are not polite and invent new words as the need arises. Unused words and meanings are naturally replaced or forgotten by society. Think of it like tribes in Africa who have no word for "snow," but in Alaska there are many. (It's probably too late at night to sound like such a nerd. :))

Words can't be "banned" from a language. They can fall into disuse, but they don't disappear because they're "not nice."

I would like to see people who use "hopefully" as anything other than an adverb beaten, though.

My parents always said if you can not think of a word to use in the place of a swear word you are not in full use of your brain.Believe me no one swore in my family. 'Dubber' was the 'swear' word of the day and even then my mother would say. Well get a hold of your self as it is not any different to think the words than saying them.It all lowers your self.I never heard the women swear and it is a act I find hard to aim for.

19. SAince I'm a mommy, I have come up with lots of substitute epithets.

My co-workers find this very amusing. They can recall the one time I screamed the F-word, though: the time I opened a box of old books and got stung by a scorpion.

One nice thing about refraining form rough language: when you do happen to employ it, people know you are dead serious!

As for banning: nope. It would stifle a lot of great literature.

As a psychological concept, the term has no meaning for humans. Studies have shown that no particular event really helps people get over a mental scar, although events seen as "closure" may ease emotional pain for a while. The term is a product of a society that wants neat, tidy endings to everything in their lives, as if they've lost the ability to tell the difference between reality and television shows. It's a piece of psychobabble bullshit and I wish it would go away.
