Anyone buy anything on "Black Friday"?
Well, no big ticket items for me, but I did finally buy a
digial camera. It's a 4.0 megapixel, and it was less than
$100.

The mall parking lots in Atlanta were filled, and I went to
one electronics retailer and it was a madhouse with a crush
of humanity in there.

If it weren't for Starbucks House Blend I probably wouldn't frequent them. But even after all the other types of coffee I tried, Starbucks House Blend is my favorite. Thankfully the wholesale club stores carry it now.

55. Starbucks just ticks me off because they won't serve...
...fair trade coffee. Except on the "20th of each month" when they proudly proclaim they support fair trade. I had one employee in an Algonquin, IL shop tell me Fair Trade just wasn't very good and that's why they didn't serve it. Another employee at the same shop winked and said, "Write them a letter. Please? They need to hear this from consumers".

I have written them letters, but they don't respond. That's why I hate them. They stand to make the biggest impact on many people's lives around the world by switching to Fair Trade and they begrudgingly serve it once a month.

I'm sure they'll say it's cost, availability...blah, blah, blah...but the local chain here in Milwaukee serves organic and/or fair trade EVERY DAY, EVERY BLEND and it's cheaper than Weedbucks...I mean Starbucks...have you seen that Chris Rock skit about Weedbucks? I think Starbucks should lobby for legalization of weed and change their name. They'd make a mint.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, in that order of descending importance. So it counts as reuse which is better than recycling. I'd actually count that as reduce since you didn't buy a new version of the same.

Best Buy had a HUGE sale on memory sticks for my digital camera. I'm going on vacation soon, I actually needed the damn things and couldn't really afford them otherwise. But, karma being what it is, I had to wait in line for 2 hours. That store was a horrifying nightmare, complete with police officers directing traffic in the parking lot.

Yes, Best Buy is not customer service oriented, and the waits there
can be agony. Stuff like that causes me to avoid large crowds usually.

Glad you got the great deal on the memory sticks though.

flamewar this morning when I posted a rant about rude people in waiting lines!

Got ridiculed for going to a Sears for 2 shower CD/radios for 2 disabled people without much family that I know for $15 each because it was the best deal I have seen. My spouse has been out of work since February and I had to look for the best price which was there at 6am when I happened to get off work. I also spent the night last night taking care of sick people. The poster (who got deleted) told me I didn't care about anybody and I was just like the people I was complaining about. (I was complaining about rude people who don't have manners in lines because 5 people cut in front of me).

69. First and Last time for me
Having never 'done' black friday before, only having lived here a few years, I wanted to 'do' it once, before the coming economic armageddon, so I did the whole shebang. JC Penny's at 5.30 am followed by best buy at 6, in line for 45mins just to get in the door and another 45mins to pay. At least at circuit city they were giving away free coffee.
It was a trip and certainly was an eye opener. I can't believe THAT many nutters do the 5am shopping thing. Madness.
At least I can say I had the experience now. I bought stuff DH and I wanted to get each other for xmas anyway - mp3 players to use down the gym and DH a new drill he needed for work. Heck we saved a fortune on what we would have spent on xmas had we waited. So I guess thats a good thing. Less profits in the pockets of big business at least from us anyway.

76. Nothing major.
Flushable potty wipes for the kiddos, protein bars, stationary, a birthday gift for someone, and some CD-R's. Stuff I needed anyway. I'm pretty sure I saw another DUer at Target too, but it didn't hit me until afterward as to who it was. I had to think for a moment. So, NewJeffCT, if you saw a blonde women in a red coat give you a strange look for a moment in Target yesterday while you were near women's clothes, that was me. :hi:

77. Lunch for me and the boys before
heading to the community center pool.

My wife, the Spender in Chief, was working yesterday, and works today and tomorrow. Monday the kids are off school so I doubt she will be shopping then either.

My bank account is most thankful.
