anyone else here a daikaiju fan?
I am watching Yongary Monster from the Deep that I taped from The Action Channel yesterday...

I haven't seen this little Korean gem since I was about 7 years old, and suddenly I am 7 years old again.

So, anyone hear like the Asian giant monster genre?

Which studio do you prefer, Toho, Daiei?

2. Daiei's finest...
Have you seen the recent 3 film series by Shosuke Kaneko? I think Gamera V. Legion is the best giant monster movie ever made.

I always had an affection for the terrible terrapin.

All I need is Gamera V. Viras and Gamera V. Baragon to complete my collection.

The best of the old ones from Daiei are the Daimajin flicks about the giant stone god... Ever see those?

3. I've probably seen all of them
at one time or another....but not in years.

I always wondered how those movies came about....bunch of Japanese businessmen at a table....'no, wait, I see a giant turtle in space'

'And instead of flippers....retro rockets!'

Love the old Japanese space movies too...cutaway Javex bottles for helmets...rubber gloves for 'space' gloves.

Waaaay better than any 'Captain Proton' :D

4. There was a late 90's resurgence in popularity of the genre
and Daiei took the cake with their reimagining of the Gamera franchise. Worth a rent.

I like their space operas too... Love the propane rockets and multicolored jumpsuits.

5. Ever see Zeiram
not a giant monster, but an immortal one.
