I survived Isabel
but more importantly, will California survive IssaHell?

damn it's good to be back online. I'm tired of cleaning up the yard and throwing away what was once good food, now for a much needed shower.
I have some catching up to do, so what's happened in the last 32 hours?

hope everyone in the locale is soon power connected and back online too.

:)

2. I wanna hear about Isabel! ....the heck with what has happened
on the outside! I went through a hurricane in 1992 and I like to hear other hurricane stories. I think it helps with any stored trauma! :-)

4. I'm with that
:toast:

It was not the same devastation and destruction as Fran, Floyd or the 02 ice storm. The neighbors home next door burned to the ground in the ice storm.
Mostly just wind, a little over an inch of rain and no power for 30 some hours, watching the foods storage and freezer go kaput.
There is a carpet of leaves and twigs, some larger limbs, and no damage here on my home front. The town suffered more with some larger trees falling over the roads and shutting down traffic.

Everyone bugged out but me. So it's been really silent at most, no complaint there. The sound of generators running in the distance. I drove 30 miles or so early today to borrow my da's generator, and ran it for about 3 hours on the fridge and freezer to try and save what foods i could. I left around dark to buy some more gas for the generator, and coming home started seeing lights on in the neighboring homes. By the time i got back in to my outpost, was fairly certain there would be power, but had shut off the main, so flipped the switch, and sure enough, it was on.

still waiting for the hot water to kick in for a shower.

All in all, Isabel was minor storm for us here in central NC, about 29,000 w/o power, the further east you go, the worse it gets, and more destruction was on the coast as should be expected. I have had to depend on battery powered am radio
for news. But i've heard they will be w/out power for min. week.

missed my du. It's been the pulse that i can rely on.
thanks to all who checked in on the thread.

peace,
