Airline Mistakenly Ships Couple's German Shepherds To Germany
<snip>

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- It may be ironic, but a couple that just moved to South Florida wasn't amused when an airline mistakenly shipped their two German shepherds to Germany instead of Fort Lauderdale Sunday.

"We got our luggage -- no dogs," said owner Ramiro Diaz. "That's the most pathetic mistake that can happen. It's OK when you lose luggage, but life, like a pet, that's beyond comprehension."

The couple said when they examined the claim checks for their dogs, they noticed the wrong destination -- Frankfurt, Germany -- had been entered. Frankfurt is about 5,000 miles from Fort Lauderdale.

"For this to happen to this family is just unheard of," said Cherie Wachter of the Broward County Humane Society. "How they ended up in Germany when they were supposed to be in South Florida is just unimaginable."

2. They'll come home all drunk wearing lederhosen and big boots
I've had German Shepherds do that before. Wouldn't be surprised if the dogs somehow arranged for this 'accident'.

Too bad they missed Oktoberfest, though.

Verify your baggage tags before you leave the counter. I once had a very expensive Time Domain Reflectometer shipped to Sao Paulo, when it was supposed to go the St Paul. Minn.

4. The Dogs (who are Democrats) realized that they were....
...too intelligent to live in a land full of dumb-ass humans.

They probably changed the tags themselves.. :)

13. I volunteer for dog rescue and have sent many dogs on airplanes
to their new owners. Believe me, when I fill out the paperwork, and the agent completes their sections, I CHECK IT WITH VERY STRICT SCRUTINY! All airline paperwork uses the airport code for the origin & destination. This should have been caught at the counter when that original paperwork was filled out! The airport code for Ft. Lauderdale is FLL, the airport code for Frankfurt is FRA. I'm reasonably sure the error was made by the counter agent at their point of origin, and there is NO EXCUSE for such a mistake!

Always remember to check the paperwork, not only for a pet, or package, but for yourself too!
