4. the insane/sane chamber (house on Haunted Hill, the new one)
that room that is designed to make insane people sane and, conversly, sane people insane. That scene was intense when the host guy was trapped in the room and it put on maximum. I had a headache and was quite freaked out after watching that scene.

6. Other
2-way tie here:

The hand popping up out of the grave at the end of "Carrie"

The little boy in "Pet Sematary" ("First I play with Judd, then Mommy came, and I play with Mommy. We play Daddy! We had a awfully good time! Now, I want to play with YOU!!!")

7. Apocalypse Now... the cow carving scene
Not really a horror film but I was nine years old when my parents drug me along to watch Apocalypse Now in the movie theaters. My parents were too cheap for babysitters.

I still have nightmares about that and Apocalypse Now is ruined for me.

10. Dog with human face, "Invasion of the Body Snatchers"
All-around creepy movie BTW. That unearthly shriek they made when they spot non-assimilated people ranks high too.

14. Carrie White's arm coming out of the grave at the end of Carrie
1st time I saw that movie I was watching it on CBS Late Movie (late 70's). I was 14 or 15. It was 1:30-2:00am, I'm sitting less than a foot from the TV in the dark. When that arm came out of the ground I damn near had a stroke. Could not go to sleep for hours.

20. Good one
I like the scene where they show a closeup of Jamie Lee Curtis after she thinks she's killed him, but then in the background, he sits up and turns and sees her.
