MAJOR personal announcement
On Friday Nov 19 I decided that I was moving to Washingotn DC. I am a New Yorker who has worked in European and Asian capitals, but have been living in Atlanta for 18 years. I have never gotten accustomed to the southern way of life and have hungered for liberal, intelligent surroundings for years.

Washington DC is the most "comfortable" city I have ever experienced, and I've lived in the "original" DC, Paris.

I am so happy to be planning my move. This is going to allow me to get much more involved in political activity as well. Wish me luck:)

5. Rock it out in DC!
Have a damn good time. Weather's still nice, warm enough during the winter that it's not freezing every day. And hey, only a few hours away from Philly, NYC! Good move and enjoy.

Democratic, solid, conservative ....wouldn't have though of voting for a Republican, since Hoover, how the state has changed, think Goldwater wrighting for the Atlanta Journal or Constution, changed the state,

29. And half if not more of those Democrats
were traditional racists who were against Catholics and women too. I'm glad those types have switched to the Republican party.

Washington is a city where Northern charm meets Southern efficiency.

So true then and now.

30. it's the reverse of the good thigns from both regions
the north for its efficiency, not it's charm. The South for it's charm, not it's efficiency.

Best of luck to a major life milestone! :toast: Washington DC does have a higher then national average crime rate but Atlanta is HIGH. Quite possibly the worst crime city in North America. Good move, plus DC has alot more opportunity for an intelligent liberal. :)
