OSU Beats Michigan, mom in ICU responds

[The Straight Story]

I went to see my mom a little while ago. She is in ICU and pretty well out of it. She loves football and we avoided mentioning the game in her room as it would raise her blood pressure (just mentioning to her that my aunt was coming by to see her sent it up 20 points and she actually shook her head no).

I leaned over, told her the bucks won, and she raised her eyebrows and tried to open her eyes. I am no big football fan myself, but mom lives for football season. This was always the big day for her in football, she would curse at the tv, change the channel when upset, and generally get all worked up.

Tonight or tomorrow she will be off the ventilator and able to talk as they bring down the meds. In true to mom form I can hear her now, "Bastards did something right".

She is a tough old lady and has beaten the odds, the doctors are impressed. She won't be here on thanksgiving day, but I know she will have the TV in her room on cursing at the teams playing.
