6. Just take quickie weekend trips...
that's what we've been doing. Until recently, I never really considered the camping options and national parks (and other vacation activities) that were close to home. There's a lot going on around here that I've been blind to because we live here... it just never occurred to me that we don't have to drive FAR to have a good trip.

2. I just recently purchased a 33' Motor home at an Auction
It was kind of like the way you go to Sam's club or Costco to stock up on toilet paper and office supplies, and come home with a trampoline, a canoe, and a 6000 piece professional mechanics toolkit..... I went to an auction to bid on photo equipment and came home with a 33' motorhome.

*shrug*...

So now what do I do with it??? lol.

It's an 89 model, made by Safari. It only has about 45k miles and is in great shape, I've gotten most everything on it to function. With a 460 ford engine, I don't think I'll be taking long trips in it.

Now that I'm in the RV'ers mode, I'm wondering if a trailer, maybe a big 5th wheel, wouldn't be more my speed.

3. Sounds Beautiful!!
I think a motorhome would be great, but only if we traveled in tandem or if we were to tow a runabout vehicle once we reached our destination. RVing is fun, but who wants to be stuck at a KOA for a week? After you've set up camp, it's a bit impractical to unplug everything just to cruise the motorhome down to pick up some extra burger buns.

Right now we've got a pop-up (for less than a year) and just as I suspected might happen, we love it SOOOOO much that we're ALREADY considering upgrading to a 20-25 foot towable. There are some really decent used ones out there and it's looking more and more likely.

What have we gotten ourselves hooked on? This is truly addicting... but GREAT FUN!!

4. We were "full-timers" for a while
We were members of a couple of RV groups that allowed stays at really nice parks. We'd park for a week or so and then move on. We toured the entire eastern part of the US.

My idea of "camping" is pulling the motorhome into a lovely site, plugging in the electric, water, and sewer, setting up the sat dish, and enjoying the area. It weasn't really camping because the motorhome was our HOME.

We maintained a residence here in Maine but many people have no fixed abode. Voting is a major problem for these people. I think I've mentioned to you a group called Escapees. They're working to allow these full-timers to set an address for voting purposes. They make up a very small percentage of the voting population but many/most/all(?) states won't allow them to vote. It's an issue most people have no knowledge of.

Enjoy the RV! We've met some terrific people "on the road".

5. Yes... I Visited Their Site. Lots Of Interesting Stuff There.
We've met some interesting and wonderful folks... and some not-so-wonderful people as well. On our last trip, there was one bickering and yelling couple that reminded me of something I had seen on the TV show 'COPS'. It was really quite alarming to hear the shouting and breaking of things and stomping and slamming of doors.

Did you guys tow a runabout vehicle behind your motorhome? --- I've seen the satellite dish setups (and the auto-aiming ones as well) and thought it would be a fun addition to our setup.

It would be fun, if for no other reason than, to get a reaction from folks who would say "Hey! Did you see the idiots in the POP-UP with a satellite dish? Now THAT's someone who loves TV!" --- A large flat-screen TV might store nicely in the pop-up once it's collapsed. Maybe.

Looks like there's not many of us here at DU. I just wanted to see if there were enough here to even consider an RV forum. Oh well.
