1. I wish..
I want everything Norm Abrams has in his shop, especially the oscillating sander. That thing is mesmerizing.

3. No pictures handy
It is a 12x40 engine lathe (metal not wood), an asian import. I have a DRO for it, but haven't gotten around to installing it.

Don't do a lot with wood, but that is partly due to a lack of apropriate wood specific tools. Still watch Norm, his tool collection inspires.

Wish I had a larger/knee mill, both MIG and TIG welders, a decent sized surface plate, a bigger arbor press. Some standard wood working tools would be nice (table saw, jointer and planer, perhaps a radial arm, or a compound miter saw). While I am wishing for things, a cold saw, one of those magnetic base drills, 3 phase electrical service, 9 foot ceilings, and another 1000 feet of floor space.

On the "round tuit" pile, is an air compressor in "kit" form. (needs to be plumbed correctly (unloader, check valve, safety valve, etc) and a better motor), the mill (one of those little "mill drills, with the pesky round columns) is still mid-overhaul. I traded a small drill press for one of the big rockwell variable speed monsters, and it needs re-motoring for single phase. (have a medium sized drill press, would get rid of it, except I have a mortising set for it)

9. There are a lot of values of "5hp"
If you can plug it into the wall its not real 5hp. Even with the 220V motors, you see a wide variety. Some draw around 15 amps, others 27. The "name brand" motors tend to be in the latter class, and fit with my old rule of thumb of 5 amps/hp at 220 volts.

This one is an old single cylinder gardner denver, I suspect of WW-II vintage. I think about 8 displacement cfm (less at pressure), so I expect I will only put a 3hp motor on it (means I can get away without a magnetic starter).

The thing has a 30 gallon tank (dating from the mid 50's, yea I hydro tested it), so given the duty cycle I expect (occaisional die grinder and needle scaler use, eventually an impact wrench) it should do fine. Sure, I would love a 7.5hp two stage, but this one only cost me the price of the updates I am making to it. Anything much stronger, and I start butting up against the 60 amp service... (one of the other reasons I don't have a TIG, as the typical one wants a 50+ amp feed).

If my financial situation ever recovers, there are a lot of things I want to do to the house -- Would like to raise the roof on the attic, and turn it into living space (bedroom, den, another bathroom). Annex the basement garages into more shop space. Get the two (its a two family) huge oil tanks, and the two ca: 1915 converted from coal furnaces out of the basement, and replace with high efficency, less than 1/4 the size gas units. And change the pair of 60 amp drops into 3 200 amp drops, each apt getting its own, and a third for the shop.

Whish I had made a better choice of grandparents -- ones that would have provided for me in a style to which I would like to become accustomed...

7. If I had to guess
I would say an older south bend. But there are enough close in appearance out there, that I can't be sure.
