I always say I kissed a LOT of frogs to find my prince - I dated for 16 years before I met my husband. AND had my heart stomped on more times than I care to remember. But if I hadn't been willing to keep trying - I wouldn't now be married to the greatest guy I know - 10 years last month.

I'd say go for it - but take it slow. Falling in love is a decision - don't do it until you're ready.

As you said, he's been after you, so he must find you interesting. Also, if he were a total creepazoid, I think that either you wouldn't be asking us, or that would have made it into your description of the situation.

If you're afraid of being hurt, well, that's natural, but unless you want to be alone, you're going to have to trust somebody, sometime. Go into it with few expectations, and if he falls short of what you really want, then be glad you found out early. Every unsuccessful dating situation hopefully teaches us more about what we want, and don't want in another person.

Don't let the ethnic or ND thing throw you, my father is Irish-German, and Mom is a tremendous Notre Dame fan, and they've been married for over 52 years. Other than acting like "Ozzie and Harriet" on occasion, they're pretty likable people. (Well, not Dad so much since the election...)
