1. My Dad used to do environmental research in the high arctic.

No, really. He worked for Environment Canada. They were studying the impact of oil drilling in the high arctic.

They came to the conclusion that the impact would likely be severe. The Arctic ecosystem is very simple; few species are adapted to the extreme conditions and thus there aren't many competitors for any given ecological niche.

Oil drilling thus didn't happen, at least not in the Canadian high arctic.

Glad to see that we have a leader who has the 'vision' to put oil company revenues ahead of preserving one of the last bits of wilderness left in the country.
