Hello DU!
I probably should have done this earlier, but better late than never I guess. Seems some folks around here don't take you seriously unless you have been around for awhile, I can respect that.

I am here as a result of finding DU from my postings before the election on the Kerry Forum and other Blogs. I kept seeing references to DU and finally I e-mailed a friend I had made on the Kerry site and found this place.
I have learned allot here and hope to learn much more.
My hope is to be an active poster and relevant here.

I am a very proud liberal Democrat from the very RED state of Georgia. I am a guitarist, a writer and columnist for a nationally distributed music magazine, and I love the freedoms of this country. I see those freedoms eroding day by day under the Repubs regime. I fear for the future of my country. That is why I am here in a nutshell, to discuss, cuss, and raise hell until things change enough for me to shut up. It looks like I might be here for a while.
I look forward to meeting and gaining the trust and respect of members here.

I am never afraid to speak my mind; but I will try to be mindful of the views of everyone!

You know this is a big tent ranging from the far left to the middle. Nowhere else it seems that a born-again believer like myself can talk to, agree, and get along with a pagan or even a Satanist! I love this place and I am genuinely addicted because I love to hear other people's viewpoints and, perhaps, to gain some knowledge and understanding. It's a WONDERFUL place to vent to those people of like mind in politics. Simply therapeutic. We aren't always right and we tend to gossip quite a lot so you have to hash out the exaggerations from more sound evidence a lot of times. The news and links you get here are a GREAT resource and you can get tomorrows headlines before anyone else. It's a great center point for liberals.

Don't feel bad. I'm in a red state, too. This is a good change of pace to those who surround me. Hope you enjoy it here as much as I do. I love them all!

Like you I discovered this through links from other Democrat websites, and have enjoyed reading it for several weeks; I wish I had found it sooner.

Because the website does not accept "free" email sites I even resurrected my old email addy from my actual server so I could post here, then had to wait for registration to open again! I am glad to be here.

I'm an Old Kentucky gal who wound up in Texas; how Red can you get? But I remember when Texas was BLUE!!! (sigh). And I once lived in Massachusetts.

Our local Democrat organization worked hard to GOTV; door knocking, calling, mailing, etc. We did increase our turnout but in TX it wasn't enough.

Like you, I fear for the future of our company with these far right wingnuts in power.

I am a United Methodist..."Open Hearts, Open Minds" is printed on the banners hanging from the light posts around my church;s campus. Somehow I think Shrub and his henchman missed that part of Methodism. It embarrasses me that they are Methodists, actually.

For the last 25 or so years I have worked in the much maligned health insurance industry. I have all the answers, if somebody would just ask me (LOL). Currently I am seeking employment since my postion as a customer service person was outsourced to India in June. Job hunting is not fun, I have never taken this long to find work unless I just did not want to work for a while.
