Todays Theme Song... Mad World
So does anyone else find that on certain days, there is a song that is "just perfect" in describing your colored perspective of things around you ?

I do this more pretty much daily and figured I would share this time.

So todays song is from the movie Donnie Darko called Mad World.

Here is a link to my server if you care to download a copy.
(This is one of my home systems so it might be a bit slow).

Enjoy,

MZr7

1. Great song
Gary Jules did this cover of an old Tears for Fears song.

How about some lyrics

All around me are familiar faces
Worn out places
Worn out faces
Bright and early for the daily races
Going no where
Going no where
Their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression
No expression
Hide my head I wanna drown my sorrow
No tomorrow
No tomorrow
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy birthday
Happy birthday
And I feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen
Sit and listen
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me
No one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what’s my lesson
Look right through me
Look right through me
And I find I kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I’m dying are the best I’ve ever had
I find it hard to tell you
I find it hard to take
When people run in circles its a very very
Mad world
Mad world
Enlarging your world
Mad world

6. TfF version
The latest version isn't bad but the Tears for Fears version is best indeed.

7. Ok then.. .Heres the Tears for Fears version
Personally, I think it is a bit too fast and looses some of the depth. But since it was the original, I agree it should be included as well.

Here you all go:

8. thanks for the link to the TfF original
I have the Donnie Darko CD. Bought it specifically for Mad World.
Heartbreaking song.
I think I like the Donnie Darko version a little bit better; the ethereal quality brings out the sadness better than the dance beat does.

9. Definitely....
...I find it kinda funny, I find it kinda sad, the dreams in which I'm dying are the best I've ever had....

Doesn't get much darker than that... the cello really helps bring out that feeling IMHO.

10. ahhh, sigh....should put on the CD?
As if things aren't sad enough? But I want to have a listen and follow the cello line, now that you mention it. (I haven't listened to it in awhile)

But, I don't know if I can take it right now. Reality is sad enough right now.
The voice in the Donnie Darko version was more quavery and lost sounding too.

11. Yeah, the cello pretty much makes the song.
Ok then, I am outta here. I have go to rehearsal so its time to put on the game face and play some "uplifting" rock-n-roll. *grin.

Take care.
