I've just found out...
...my auto insurance was cancelled for non-payment, I don't have any money to renew it, my free-lance business has fallen off the chart, and I haven't had a raise at work in two-years. I'm out of money, out of hope, depressed. Just so you know.

I feel for you......

I just got assistance to keep my water on......

Insurance for the car was canceled last month.

I barely own this house...and was thinking......shoot.....if I could get a crew of people in the same boat as me to come here to LIVE maybe we could all lift each other up out of the abyss.......

We are soooooo cut off from the community idea here in the US...

Heck, a crew of 4 or 5 people could actually start a pretty profitable (and under the table at times) biz cleaning houses, offices and new construction spaces......$20 an hour... But you need a team.

2. things get better..
trust me, i just went through a MUCH worse experience than that and after all of it I've still come out on top and am planning on leaving my job in the next 6-9 months in order to volunteer full-time for the democratic party through the 2004 election. I'm looking forward to that beyond anything and if I can make it through what I just dealt with you can get through the hardship you are experiencing. Times are tough but just keep hope alive.

6. Things are a tough, or even tougher now
Than they were i the 80's. I just thank God that I don't have kids to support now, like I did then.

My daughter just told me she doesn't have the gas money to go 50 miles to see her daughter (my grand daughter) It broke my heart . She works EVERY DAY and still cant afford gas for her car.

5. Financial stress is the worst
it colors every other part of your life. I'd be willing to bet there are quite a few DUers who have driven without insurance when times were tough, I know I have.

I hope things begin to look up for you soon.

7. Join the club!
Do what I'm gonna do: Hop in the car and drive. Take a road trip!
Elsewhere or bust!

10. This is the System, Don't take it too personally
That is my advice. The way things are now, no one can afford to be confortable unless they are making at least 60k -- if you want a decent car, house, education for kids, etc. Those of us who don't make it fall through the cracks. The system is built on keeping people depressed, desperate, and needy. Don't let it get you down, do the best you can and know that it is not a measure of you as a person.

11. It's amazing... I'd heard about recessions before...

... but never really experienced one. During previous ones, I was just a kid and my dad had steady employment. Now, here I am going back to school because I was unable to find work for most of a year... and reading all of these stories.

Sheesh.

I'm glad that by the time I'm done with school we'll be in the midst of the Unnamed Democrat recovery.
