Where are all the BIG actresses?
All you "femanatzies" ( I am smiling when I say that O8) ) get out the batons, because I am NOT talking about box office receipt here. Nope, we are talking big as in May West. We are talking big as in Dolly Pardon here. I have nothing against Briny Spears now, don't get me wrong. But come on, some of like a lady with a might set of um, lungs. (Yay, that's it.)

I will admit it, there is some testosterone speaking here. But there absences is increasingly notable, now that you don't see them. Dolly Pardon is the only one I can think of who is even remotely active in TV. (She recently made a movie about being a rape victim a few years back.) The Actress who played 7 of 9, Jeri Ryan on Star Trek Voyager seems to be the only runner up that I can think of. (She was big enough to cause a controversy anyway.)

Come on, Hollywood can surly do better than this, right? After all, when it comes to silicon, Texas has nothing on California. But surly the "all-natural" flock to the glitter city with hopes of stardom in their eyes, like any one else, right?

And this did get me to thinking. Now I know that such "physically gifted" lades are quite rare in the female population. But zero? You don't think that there is a little bit of –ahem- discrimination taking place, do you? Jeri Ryan's situation when she first started on the show might hint as a kind of phobia at work here. Which is strange given how popular breast enhancement happens to be. Perhaps because of it, after all, we don't want to establish unobtainable goals about their appearance. (Of course, Hollywood doesn't seem to have the same concern with thinness however.) Am I on to something here, or do I need to be fitted for my tin foil hat? :tinfoilhat:

Or should I refrain from donating blood because of high testosterone levels? :evilfrown:

3. Jeri Ryan
Marlene Dietrich was the one who patened the principles the Cellular Telephone Network is based upon in WWII (she wasn't too shabby either.)

6. Hay, take a chill pill.
Bash me if you want. I kind of expect it. But do hit be with a quality bash, not a guteral bark. I posted this, half for fun, and half hoping to see what the feminist thinking on the subject just happens to be. And I do know they have an oppinion here, I just don't know what it is.

I did activly chose to keep that word in the post. So you may be withen your right to read me the riot act. But if I deserve it, surly you can do better than a four letter word.

24. A reading from the Book of Armaments,
Chapter 4, Verses 16 to 20:

Then did he raise on high the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch, saying, "Bless this, O Lord, that with it thou mayst blow thine enemies to tiny bits, in thy mercy." And the people did rejoice and did feast upon the lambs and toads and tree-sloths and fruit-bats and orangutans and breakfast cereals ... Now did the Lord say, "First thou pullest the Holy Pin. Then thou must count to three. Three shall be the number of the counting and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither shalt thou count two, excepting that thou then proceedeth to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the number of the counting, be reached, then lobbest thou the Holy Hand Grenade in the direction of thine foe, who, being naughty in my sight, shall snuff it."

7. Jeri Ryan
because you mention "unobtainable", well Jeri/7 of 9 may not be as big as you think. I've been told for her 7 of 9 character she wore a padded bra, padded hips/butt, and her waist was cinched with a corset. It also looks like she wore platform heels to make 7 of 9 taller. Even in that picture you posted her breast shape doesn't look quite natural to me. A lot of the new Star Trek characters seem to have augmentations to their uniforms, Worf and Riker both seem to have padded shoulders and chest to make them look bigger and more muscular.

8. You said
"You don't think that there is a little bit of –ahem- discrimination taking place, do you? "

I think in a couple of ways.

Lots of prejudgements on the curvy body out there and when you have, shall we say, ample bosoms, sometimes people forget you have a brain, a heart, and a soul along with them, but testosterone can be pretty powerful I know. Most of the time I like to feel noticed, but sometimes, I just want to blend in.

Not to mention, back in the 40's 50's women in the movies looked like women. Now they have bodies like skinny little boys. Give me my Jayne Mansfield figure anyday over a Lara Flynn Boyle figure.

9. Testosterone is no excuse.
I'll admit it. I am a "boob man." But that is only part of who I am. And I am confident in saying that this is a vary small part of who I am. But I am no more a "boob fanatic" than some one else being just a pair, if you get my meaning. The testosterone can only account for the ogling. But thinking that there isn't a brain up stairs has nothing to do with this, and in fact has more to do with stereo-types and pre-conceived prejudices. Prejudices that have less to do with the bust line, and more to do with the fact of being a woman I would suspect.

Still, its also good to remind other that a bust line is no different than being tall. As I am told that I am, being six two. (Shrugs, I don't think this is too tall at all.) It makes me intimidating, even when I am trying to be gentle. And it is no more right to discriminate against the busty, any more than the vertically gifted (Which is more than 6' 2" as far as I am concerned.) or for being over weight.

But here is the thing. Honestly representing people on the screen, be it in the movies or on TV is the best way we have of fidgeting stereo types. And perhaps having a diversity of female (and male) forms out their, young girls might not be so pinned into being so self concuss about their weight and size. My little sister (not so little any more) ran into this in High school, of being "too big."

20. Like this?

From the Golden Age of science-fiction (the fifties!). This one is high camp, as a wealthy women grows to a height of 50 feet after an encounter with aliens. With her new found size she decides to get revenge on her two-timing husband, his mistress and others that have annoyed her.

This could be the first feminist pay-back film ever made...what woman wouldn't like to be 50ft tall at least just for one day?

22. They're all on soap operas
And they are surgically enhanced, like Bobbie on GH, who's had the whole nine yards and now has a very scary face. She does have large breasts, however. On soaps, if they are not anorexic (Carly), they tend to be large-breasted (Courtney, Bobbie).
