My name is Mark, and I'm a book-aholic.
I can't help it. I browse book stores for hours on end - new or used it doesn't matter. I look at Amazon the first thing in the morning, then I go to Powells - just to see if they have something more.

I'm reading two right now. I've got ten sitting on my desk. And I ... I bought four more yesterday & two today.

I know I can control this - this urge to buy everything I see. But lately I've had trouble doing so. I see a familiar author, or the next book in a series and I just NEED to have it. What got me yesterday was Robert Caro's third LBJ book. I said to myself "why not? you've read the others, and its JUST ONE MORE!" But I found myself grabbing others, and I just had to go back today.

What am I going to do?

1. first,
admit that you are powerless over this addiction, that your life has become unmanagable

2. No need to control it.
Just channel it... as in, support your LOCAL booksellers, not Amazon.

Hey... there are worse addictions to have. :D

4. I don't know, I have the same affliction
losing 2/3 of my salary slowed me down a bit, but I have so many books and bookshelves now that I fear my home may get swallowed in a sinkhole of it's own making.
