Happy Stuff!!!! It's a Happy Stuff Thread!
Here's what I'm doing to be happy:

1. Watching endless episodes on DVD and VHS of a British comedy called "Absolutely Fabulous." If you aren't familiar with it, try to find it (but not at a repuke owned or run store, see if you can borrow it or something! Also shown on BBC America on Thursday nights). Smart, funny, biting, satirical as hell.

2. Non-stop Christmas music! Ok for all you Christmas haters out there, maybe you wouldn't like that. But it's done wonders for my mood. I mean who can't be happy while belting out "Rocking Around the Christmas Tree?"

3. I took a LONG LONG LONG powerwalk yesterday. Just laced up my shoes, got my CD player, and took off. The air is finally colder herre, nice brisk wind and I walked and walked and walked. Punched the air, growled a lot, worked my whole body. When I got home I was too tired to feel angry or sad. Wow did that feel good. Nice hot shower and collapsed on the bed.

4. I haven't seen one little tiny tidbit or smidgen of news since Tuesday. Nothing, nada. Not gonna either. Haven't seen chimpy's face, or heard his name or voice. No newspapers, no news on TV and haven't even been to LBN here. It feels GOOD! I don't give a shit right now!

5. I got my daughter's soap bubbles out, sat on the porch and blew soap bubbles. Simple and fun.

6. Been looking at real estate on the internet in Philly, New York and Oregon. Can't afford to move, but it's fun to dream. Anywhere blue, baby.

Two words: HOT COCOA. Oh wait, two more words: Peppermint Schnapps.

What have you been doing to try go get happier?

7. Homecoming King & Queen
Homecoming royal quits for 'right king'

GILBERT - When Joe McLarney and Marisa Robson threw up their arms Friday night as Highland High School's newly crowned homecoming king and queen, tears welled through the crowd.
--snip--
During the halftime ceremony, Robson was crowned queen and Huston, a senior kicker for the school's football team, was crowned king.

But Huston immediately gave his crown to McLarney, a runner-up for the title. "You can't split up Joe and Marisa," Huston said. "They need to be together."
--snip--
McLarney and Robson, both 20 years old, fell madly in love when they met in class four years ago, said Joe's mom, Gerry McLarney. She said the couple, who have Down syndrome, always have received tremendous support from the school community.

8. TDS
On Wednesday night, I re-watched The Daily Show's election night coverage. It felt good to confirm that I'm not the only one who was confused and dismayed by the election results. John Stewart's recent commentary on Bush's acceptance speeches (which he compared to a spousal abuser's promise that "things will be different this time") made me smile for the first time in days.

15. A bunch of things
I did a whole bunch of outdoor chores. Took down and boxed up all the Halloween decorations. Cleaned and swept the deck. Tidied the storage area.

I also re-arranged my kitchen cabinets, cleaned out my wood stove, found a home for my newest piece of Native American pottery.

I have watched NO news whatsoever and I will continue to do that until I'm more myself. I've watched some silly movies. And today I think I'm going to bake.
