I need something to laugh at that's out on DVD or video. I mean, real funny.

4. Why newer?
There's a lot of older comedies that make the newer ones look pathetic.

Gross Pointe Blank
Return To Me
Lost In Translation (okay, newer but still great)
Punch Drunk Love (okay, so I'm an Adam Sandler fan)
Duck Soup
Animal House
Young Frankenstein
The Royal Tennebaums
Barbershop
Better Off Dead

6. Eulogy is out in theaters (maybe)
And it was the FUNNIEST THING I've seen all year. 4 siblings gather to bury their dad. Oldest Sister is a "conservative moralist", Older Brother is a chauvanist, Younger brother is a childhood TV star (now in porn), and youngest is a feminst lesbian. . .

Great humor if you don't mind pot use and homosexual themes

18. Big movie buff
When I first dated my wife and after we got married we'd see a couple movies every weekend. A lot of foreign and Indie movies at the local "Art" film theaters. These days, we're a bit more selective and mainly rent movies. I'll check out your site. Thanks.

23. Team America.
Though I'm afraid I might not find it as funny now as I did during the election. The jingoistic sarcasm is probably lost on the Freepers.

South Park, Bigger, Longer, and Uncut is still one of my top five "when I need a laugh" movies, though. Rent that.

"Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" is my favorite film of the year, funny but also poignant, and given this week, the notion of having huge chunks of my memory erased sounds heavenly.

Saved! is funny as hell, but see above Team America qualifier.

I've still never seen Harold and Maude, despite a friend's 20-year insistence. I think I'm gonna watch it tonight after I take my son to the Incredibles.

I love the character P.K. Dubey, brilliantly played by Vijay Raaz. He's alternately hilarious and poignant. Funniest moment for me was when he's bragging about being a with-it guy up on all the latest technology: "Millenium style, Y2K dot!" Most poignant: When he brings Alice the marigold heart!

And the soundtrack is fabulous--I especially love the Sukhwinder Singh theme, "Today My Heart Desires."

60. And speaking of Asian weddings: A Wedding Banquet
Ang Lee's first American film, the story of a Taiwanese immigrant whose parents back in Taiwan are pressuring him to get married. The only trouble is, he's already living with an American...man. He decides to enter into an on-paper marriage with a Chinese woman, both to please his parents and to secure her immigration status, but then the parents decide to come to the States for the wedding. Oops!

But here are my favorite comedies:

Ghostbusters
The Princess Bride
This Is Spinal Tap
South Park: Bigger, Longer, & Uncut
Blazing Saddles
Pee Wee's Big Adventure
Dumb & Dumber
Men In Black
Saved!
Office Space

65. An '80s movie that's still hilarious
Hollywood Shuffle. I got it in the cheap bin at Best Buy, it's been one of my favorite movies for a long time. It's Robert Townsend's first movie, where he plays a black actor struggling to make it in Hollywood. The skits are hilarious and the movie itself is like a who's who of black comic actors. Damon & Keenan Ivory Wayans are in it (you know the FUNNY Wayans), and loads of other folks.

My favorite bit is the black acting school...LOL. And ho-cakes. "Hos gotta eat too!"
