Question for computer tech people.........
I have a friend who had a particularly bad virus on her computer that completely ruined it and she ended up trashing it. She claims someone sent her that virus on purpose. Is this likely or was is one that sent it's self out to all people in an address book. She thinks someone from a message board did it.

2. Highly unlikely on a message board.
Highly lokely, it came in on an email. Tell her to try Avast! Anti-Virus. She can find that on http://www.snapfiles.com

It is free.

Yes, I do this for a living(Bwahahaha! A living! I kill me!)

3. She emails with different people from the message board.....
Do you think it could be done on purpose or was random?

4. It could have very likely been done on purpose
I use a hotmail account and ever since I started posting in anti-Bush BBS', I receive viruses constantly.

NEVER use your real email address in your profile.

Create a free email account and use that.

5. It's possible, of course ...
that is was on purpose, but it's much more likely that it was random. My brother, who is also a computer tech and who should know better, got a virus from MSN or AOL or somebody's fantasy football site. It had been hacked and when you when there, you got slammed. Could be something like that, too, if she does a lot of surfing.

7. Don't post your real email address in the newsgroups or BBS'
Once Boosh supporters find out you are against him, they will slam you with viruses.

I use a hotmail email address, and I receive 10 to 20 viruses a day in the account.

That is the only purpose of the account, a virus depository.

6. Email source
It most likely came from an email

If she uses her email account in the BBS, then someone could have sent her an email that way. It happens to me all the time. Bush supporters love to send out viruses.

And it could very well have come from someone else who has her in their address book.
