My brother-in-law is a freakin' IDIOT.
There is a gas oven in his kitchen, and it had been disconnected so we could move it away from the wall for maintenance. I just found out that when he reconnected the gas line, he tested the connection by... can you see it coming? ... lighting a match and holding it next to the seal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! TRUE STORY!!

I was on the verge of asking him if he tested a gun for bullets by holding it to his head and pulling the trigger, but I restrained myself (barely).

As I said, my brother-in-law is an idiot!!! Any complete morans in YOUR life? (BTW, I forgot to mention he's a * republican...)

1. You didn't have to mention he's a * republican
We already knew it after your first sentence.

5. Umm
My FIL has been installing gas furnaces since the '50s, & that's how he checks the joints in the gas pipe, with a lighter. Lots of furnace men do that.

Which is not to say that your BIL isn't an idiot.:D

8. Then there are a whole lot of stupid furnace men around.
That's why they add the rotten-egg smell to the gas-- so it can be easily detected! Anyone who sparks a deliberate flame in a potentially explosive situation like that is someone to stay the hell AWAY FROM. FAR away.

6. You too?
My bro-in law isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.....
In his youth, his car caught fire and he tried to "drive the fire out". It added fanned the flames enough for a really nice display.
