I asked in 4 different stores today and they all said that the proceeds from those "Support our troops" do not go to help the troops. So lets make these stupid things "Supporting" president dumbass and donate the money to the Dems.

1. I hate those fucking ribbons!
I had to keep myself from spitting on them today as I walked to work. Cheap easy pseudo-patriotism!

I like the idea of exploiting the rubes this way. ;)

3. I had one on my car
$1.50 - a cheap way to prevent vandalism when placed next to my K/E sticker.

14. They're all made in China, no doubt.
I wonder where the profits really go. Do they pretend to benefit "the troops?"

15. Not quite, but in the same general region...

we sell them at the store I work at, the ones we have are "Made in Taiwan," I would venture to say most of them are.

I suppose its better than doing even more business with communist China, but it sure as hell isnt as good as doing business with our fellow American manufacturers.

none of the profits go to the troops, unless you count the fact that some taxes somewhere go to the government. Then again people are wrong for just assuming that the profits actually support the troops, no where on the packaging does it make any claims to that.

16. Typical easy "patriotism" Bushmerica style.
:puke:

Unless they're used as anti-keying devices. Nice to appeal to the sappy side of Bushmerican vandals.

21. feh, mine was removed from my car less than 12 hours after I put it
there. Kerry supporters apparently don't "deserve" to support the troops here. :hi:

22. I added "NOT BUSH" on my ribbon so it would piss them off!
The other half of the yellow ones has a nice space to write "NOT BUSH" - I CAN support the troops and not the "Murderer in Chief"!

2. we could print Bibles - with hidden messages like "thou shalt not kill" -
and "thou shalt not steal", "love thy neighbor" and "turn the other cheek". I bet we could really sell a buncha those, a slip in a kindly subliminiable message, too.

5. Actually, "Thou shalt not kill" "Thou shalt not steal"
"Love thy neighbor" buttons, t-shirts and bumper stickers would be the loveliest idea.

Let's start now, calling them on their hypocrisy using their own tools.

10. Matthew 7:20
I want people holding up Matthew 7:20 signs at sports rallies.

I want a Matthew 7:20 button in every color for every outfit.

I want to hear them start saying why the book of Matthew isn't the TRUE gospel.

4. I hate the fact that they're MAGNETS
and you can take them off at will. They should be permanently affixed to your car once you put it on.

By the way, I was the first person I knew of to have one. I tied one around my car antennae in mid-2003.

they do collect the profit and buy things for the troops. so far they have raised several thousand dollars and have raised from local business several tens of thousand of dollars worth of goods for the troops-all things they need but can`t get there in iraq. always ask if the money goes for the troops

17. I saw one sticker that really confused the shit out of me.
"Support the President, Support the Troops, Pray for Peace."

Excuse me? Pray for peace? The only reason we don't have peace right now is because that fucking asshole wanted to be at war so badly that he lied over and over again to get us there! We don't have peace now, and its Bush's fault!

Unfortunately, it would go right over the heads of most people.

I keep thinking - fuck, got lemons, make lemonade.

The magnetic thing might be a timely idea.
